This is a little strange: the DGFFs should have no problems intermingling between systems. I am more concerned that your motherboard may not necessarily be genuine. Where did you get your motherboard from?

Hi. I bought the i9 board as new directly from a Dell Italy Tech Support employee who had a spare. The service tag was blank. Here is a photo. (if you don't see it, please explain to me how to insert a photo in my replies here, I can't figure it out!)
I remain very uncertain about what to do next: i.e. return the i7 and reinstall the i9 and try to calibrate it somehow, or stay with the i7 and continue trying to solve the NVIDIA and SSD non-detection issues in some way.

    thks john

Most hosting services will try their best to block you from using direct links to your images. The link is always there, but it's just more deeply embedded since they want you to visit their ad-using front-end.

To get to the real image url you can use 'Right click on the image -> Open Image or Copy Image Address', whatever it is called in your particular browser. Then either copy the new url from respectively the address bar or clipboard and make sure to trim everything after the very last instance of '.jpg' or '.png' etc. in the url. Lastly, change the 'https' to 'http' and use that for the image link.

Seems likely. The dimensions and positions of screws and ports are the same. Other same-chassis Precision 7000 systems have proven to be cross-compatible as far as the motherboard goes (i.e. Precision 7510 vs. Precision 7520). I haven't seen anyone try this one specifically, though.

You will have to confirm that the memory that you have is compatible with your new CPU... and if you have an NVIDIA GPU, you will have to do an INF mod to install the drivers if you have the "wrong" motherboard present.

Does anyone know where you can find replacement heatsinks for the precision 7530? I've checked alibaba but no luck. I've noticed the airflow from my computer seems to be worse than when I first got the machine two years ago. I've repasted the machine a few times, including using liquid metal, yet temperature seems worse and it feels like not alot of air is leaving the laptop. Wondering if maybe I warped the heatsink putting it back in or something.

    Thanks

Have you considered asking Dell itself?

Hello everyone; looks like the display I purchased from AliExpress was a dud, and quickly failed.

Unfortunately, I left the firmware in Switchable Graphics mode, and this means I cannot access the BIOS from the video outputs (which work fine).

Is there any chance that any of you can give me the exact sequence of keypresses needed to change the 7530 to discrete mode, because I'd be working in firmware, effectively 'blind'.
