In other news, the 'power-draw-goes-down-when-Lightroom-is-open' bug is back. What I wouldn't give to get to the bottom of this...

Hi, greetings to Aaron44125, Ionising_Radiation and all, I just joined the forum. I noticed this very interesting thread on steps to modify Dell Nvidia driver INF files to set NVIDIA GPU compatibility on a DELL Precision 7530. Here's my situation:
My out-of-warranty Dell Precision 7530 running Win10 64 does not detect my NVIDIA RX3000 graphics driver either in BIOS (1.14.4) nor in Windows Device Manager. DM shows the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 and the Extension Graphics Adaptor but the NVIDIA only shows up when toggling DM to "view hidden" and the driver properties state that it is not connected : "PCI Slot 1 (PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0) Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45). To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." When I try to install the DELL NVIDIA driver, ver 452.57, the install fails and I get an error message that "the graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware". I reinstalled all related key DELL drivers after the new mobo install - bios, chipset and graphics (both intel and NVIDIA) - but no joy. I checked the NVIDIA card physical connections and they look fine.
Could the problem have to do with the fact that I recently replaced the original motherboard with a board with the same specs but a different DELL Service Tag number and that I need to recalibrate the GPU-Mobo id connections as you describe? I tried the detailed NVIDIA driver INF-edit instructions here but no luck, the card is still not seen. Am frustrated as without the NVIDIA I have also lost hdmi capability. Any advice/tips on what to do enormously appreciated. - john in Rome

I installed NVCleanstall but it does not work. It too does not detect any graphics card. Help!

But you are able to boot? This means the card is detected by the notebook, but was unable to be initialised fully.

Where did you purchase this RTX 3000? You have a 7530, so it came with Pascal, and you probably upgraded, I think? If the purchase was off eBay, then there might have been a lousy VBIOS on the card, which you will need to reflash to Dell's stock VBIOS.

On another note, I have upgraded the AUO B156HAN06.0 display to a BOE NV156FHM-NY1 display. It is amongst the few 144 Hz 15.6" displays with a 30-pin connector with 0.5mm pin pitch, and it was a drop-in replacement. Brightness adjustment works perfectly, but a downside is that this display uses PWM to control brightness (waving my hand in front of the display at low brightness produces a stroboscopic effect).

It also appears that Intel and NVIDIA's colour management drivers are noticeably different, and using the display under the Intel integrated graphics in Windows causes a weird contrast-adjustment effect. I used to see this on my old Clevo W230SS notebook, too.

Does this occur only on battery? If so, go to the Intel display control panel and disable the "power saver" feature (shows up in the power options, but only as a choice for when on battery power) and it should stop that from happening.

    Works great.

One issue with the new display is that the brightness adjustment is a little jittery if I move up the steps too quickly.

Hi. Thanks so much for getting back to me. I know more now, I will be more precise:

The gpu is a NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with GDDR5 6 GB which I bought some years ago new with the 7530 directly from DELL ITALY. With time, the motherboard started giving me big problems so I replaced it with a new i9 (at my expense since the unit was by then out of warranty). However with the i9, the system did not detect the NVIDIA (neither in the bios nor in device manager), lost hdmi and displayport functionality, and only detected 1 of my 3 installed SSDs. DELL Technical Support said these problems were because the i9 upgrade was not compatible with my unit so I reluctantly bit the bullet and bought a used i7 from EBAY which I have just installed. I am now nonplussed to see that the i7 gives me exactly the same behavior as the i9, no more no less! I still have the i9 and I have until Feb 3 to return the i7 for a full refund. What to do?
