Yes, I have updated the BIOS and everything seems fine. If anything, it is even quieter than normal though that may be my imagination.

Have not tried the reset BIOS trick.

I just went back to some of my old benchmarks, and compared the P3200 (with the 67 W VBIOS) and the Quadro RTX 5000 (with the 90 W VBIOS); here's a 3DMark Fire Strike comparison:

Honestly, quite an impressive showing for a two-year-old chassis: a 75% uplift in graphics performance.

It's interesting how much it dropped the CPU portion of the scores. I thought maybe it would be related to starving the CPU of power, but my P4200 uses more power (and presumably generates more heat too) but my CPU scores where just a tad higher than the P3200 for you.

    Computer back and running.
I just refurbished both ribbon cables and it did work perfectly.
Thanks for your help once more.

Should have included a caveat: that's mainly because my thermal paste has degraded and a re-paste is in order, rather than the GPU starving the CPU of thermal headroom or power (GPU temperatures for both benchmarks were actually very similar).

I just upgraded BIOS from 1.13.1 to 1.14.4. No need to reset/downgrade, undervolting still works.
I also have the feeling that fan and CPU managements are slightly different: fan doesn't seem to kick in so often in light loads (although it's too early to be definitive about that - and I haven't repasted in nearly 2 years).
    So far so good, though.

Just wanted to confirm here, the latest bios update does not remove the ability to undervolt? Has anyone else had a chance to test this as well?

Have also updated: my notebook remains undervolted. I reset back to stock settings just in case, but it turns out I never needed it.

Glad Dell didn't patch this 'bug'

Yes, the fans definitely do not come on as much which makes the laptop a lot quieter. Very welcome update.

Can a noob to the reality of undervolting ask: what the real world difference you're seeing with undervolting of this line of machines?
