Precision 7530 & Precision 7730 owner's thread

Run Premiere Pro with the NVIDIA discrete GPU.

My (admittedly anecdotal) evidence is that the Intel driver does not work well with the Precision: features like brightness control and colour calibration were problematic the last time I installed it, and were only fixed when I reinstalled the Dell driver over the generic Intel version.

 

I believe I am running Premiere on the 7730's Radeon card. In Windows > Graphics Settings Premiere is set to use the "high performance GPU".

 

According to an answer I received in the Adobe forum:

You may need to go into BIOS to disable the Intel video chip on the motherboard

When I spent the money I did on this 7730, I sure expected the "future-proofing" to last much longer than this.

 

You could try loading the Intel GPU drivers from the Precision 7740 or 7750 if they are newer. They may well play nice with older Dell systems and also solve this Adobe problem. Current Intel GPU drivers support CPUs all the way down to 6th gen.

(When I have had the Intel GPU active, I haven't had any trouble using the drivers straight from Intel, but I haven't tried to do anything fancy like color calibration.)

Since I'm a photographer, color calibration is key for everything I do. Fingers crossed.

 

I'm on bulid 2004 - getting amazing battery life - over 10hrs on battery saver mode with light usage on wifi on medium brightness and keyboard backlight off

 

Sorry to repost this again, but I'm still having this problem, has anyone had this as well?

 

update to the latest bios, and now brightness control don't work ...wth...how to downgrade bios?

Also does anyone else's screen have backlight bleeding on theirs?

 

You should be able to install an earlier BIOS version. If not, check your BIOS settings, there is an option to disable BIOS downgrades., which you might need to uncheck.

Sometimes backlight bleeding is caused if the display bezel is too tight and applies pressure on the display panel. Not sure how easy it is to fix that by yourself. You might contact Dell, if you have on-site support.

Do you know the Dell part #?
