    Since your old drives were previously part of a RAID array, if you have switched to AHCI, they are unusable now. You can install them with no chance that the system will try to boot them and you will not be able to access the data on them. You can open Disk Management and initialize/format them to use them for secondary storage. I know that you will be able to do it from there but I'm not sure what the exact steps will be, it's been quite a long time since I looked at a RAIDed drive from a non-RAID environment so I don't know how it will be presented.

    I just used Unetbootin to create the live SD, so not sure about the partition table. I also used Unetbootin to create a live USB from the same image. It boots the USB fine but not the SD. Is there something I could try to fix that?

    The simplest way that I can think of would be to boot a live image via USB and then "install" the system onto the SD card. It should set up a boot partition and everything. (Just thinking that the BIOS might be expecting the SD card to be set up more like a hard drive than a USB drive for booting. I haven't actually tried to boot it though.)

    This is amazing! I would definitely do this, but unfortunately am having CPU throttling issues with a stuck heatsink. :| Not sure how much of an improvement I'll see until it's fixed if it gets fixed.

    Could you point me to where I can find this VBIOS? Thanks!

    A couple of posts above my post you've quoted here, as I've quoted; @Mazed has very kindly posted his P3200 VBIOS.

    Hey frostbytes, Thanks again for the part number, unfortunately Dell says it's not for the 7730.

    After many months of dealing with this issue Dell claims these screens are acceptable & that I should not expect any better. So, that's it for me with the 7730. Quite a disappointment for a professional workstation.

    Anyone have a decent contact at Dell? Dell issued the return approval over 4 weeks ago, received the laptops back 3 weeks ago but have still not refunded my money. Every time I talk to them they say 5-7 days. That's come & gone several times & I'm sitting here without the laptops & without my $7000+. I would like to get my money back without having to hire a lawyer but it's getting to that point. I've always had good experiences with Dell before but this experience has been very disappointing.

    Hi,

    I have recently ordered a Dell Precision 7530 with two M.2 SSDs and one SATA hard drive. The SATA hard drive is just 500 GB, so I would like to upgrade it with a 4 TB hard drive. Does anyone know whether 15 mm 2.5'' hard drives fit into the Dell Precision 7530? Or do only 7 mm 2.5'' fit?

    Thank you for your help!

    9.5mm or less so you can get 2TB. (I haven't actually seen any laptops that fit a 15mm drive...)
    You can also install M.2 SATA drives (i.e. Samsung 860 EVO M.2) which are cheaper than NVMe.

    @Aaron44126
    Thank you very much for the quick reply!

    Ummm, that is a bit disappointing - I was hoping I could get more storage capacity by going for the SATA hard drive option. On the other hand, it is good, I did not buy a hard drive yet, since I already have a 2 TB one of the relevant size.

    I'm not sure why 2.5"/9.5mm capacity has not been increasing. I bought a 2 TB drive in early 2015 for my M6700 and four years later the maximum capacity is still the same. (Actually, I'm pretty sure they could make a larger drive but the perception is that the demand is not there.)
    SSD prices continue to fall so I'll probably be switching to all flash before long...
