Precision 7530 & Precision 7730 owner's thread

If you're always getting a sound pop when an alert notification comes, I'm hesitant to blame it on DPC latency.

Here's something to try... I assume that you are using the Realtek audio driver provided by Dell (and also assuming that you are not using the dock). Try using the Microsoft driver instead.
* Locate the Realtek audio device in device manager.
* Select the option for "update driver", "browse my computer..." and "let me pick..."
* Select the Microsoft "High definition audio device" — if it complains about maybe not being compatible, tell it to do it anyway
* You might be prompted to reboot when the driver install is done?

See if the Microsoft driver solves your problem. I had a similar issue with my M4800 which I solved in this way. If you decide that you would prefer to keep the Microsoft driver, you may have to take steps to prevent Windows Update from reinstalling the Realtek driver.

Not sure then. My 7530 is practically silent when running under a light load. I will say that it seemed to be fixed by the 1.2.x BIOS update, before that I did think that it was kicking the fan up too often.

 

Did they in any way explain what the underlying problem is?

 

No, but I have been told that they believe that they understand what the issue is and they are working on firmware update(s) to correct it. They're working with a vendor (to me it seems like an outside company was mostly responsible for creating the Thunderbolt dock). I don't have any actual detailed information.

 

Windows 1809 INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR BSOD seems to be caused by Samsung NVMe driver:

Please do anybody know, if you can change color temperature of the 7730 FHD display to 5000K? I mean any other way than make a ICC profile, that will narrow the gamut. In some menu, driver, etc. I need 5000K because I work in print industry and we are using that instead of 6500K. Thanks.

 

Can you pull 3xFHD displays @ 60 on othe TB18 dock (but no VGA please)? Does the dock using both TB ports for data, on one is only for power?

 

You can run 3x 1080p 60Hz displays off of the dock (HDMI, DP, and mDP). Only one of the Thunderbolt ports is used for data, but even the TB16 could run 3x 1080p off of one Thunderbolt port.
(Both docks can run 2x 4K 60Hz displays, which is the same bandwidth as 8x 1080p displays.)

 

You cannot match color simply by setting the temperature of the display. You need to talk to others in the organization about calibrating your display to match their displays and printers. That calibration process will require use of a colorimeter to measure your display's output and create a custom ICC profile. The calibration software should allow the organization's color expert(s) to select their preferred temperature, brightness, contrast, etc.

The sound popping issue is one of my biggest issues right now. Will installing the Microsoft drivers reduce the overall volume/bass boost that these speakers have? I know it's not purely software enhancements as the speakers tend to get a lot quieter/less full when the laptop goes into battery saving, meaning to me that they're being delivered additional power to drive them in those states, but I'm not sure if those features are reliant on the Realtek drivers being installed.

I completely agree. The fan noise is ridiculous under medium to high loads. People in the office asking “what’s up with your laptop”. I think Dell dropped the ball and feel underwhelmed with many aspects of my new 7530.
