The extra volume isn't just through the RealTek drivers; you'll need the Waves MaxxAudio app from the Microsoft Store.

Any update on your fan noise and display? I recently received my 7530 and I’m completely underwhelmed in many aspects, keyboard, fan noise, display, 80’s look and feel.

    1. If there's something wrong with your keyboard, you'll need to get Dell to swap it.

    2. Check your Dell Power Manager profile—oddly enough, the 'Optimised' profile is best for fan noise. If not, check your temperatures. If not, you'll need to talk to Dell again.

    3. What's wrong with your display? If it's a dust or bleeding issue, then once again, Dell Support is there.

    4. As for '80s look-and-feel, can't help you with that, sorry—that's highly subjective. Dell did have renders and images of the laptop on its site.

There's no other way than to redirect most of your woes to Dell Support, because that's precisely what this machine is for—its warranty.

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully my woes will dissipate with time. However, just in response,

    1. Keyboard, cheap plastic feel, touch pad and buttons, nub and black finish are meh.

    2. I’ll try the optimised profile and possible BIOS update in hopes to reduce the F-22 jet engine sound.

    3. I was expecting more from this lacklustre 4K display. Quality with matte finish screen ...meh

    4. Agreed, the look-and-feel are subjective. However, Dell’s design team could have been more forward thinking, especially for a premium product.

I’m sure my thoughts will change in time.

    Thanks

Yeah - looks like the Microsoft drivers aren't compatible with Waves. I'm fairly certain Waves is actually the culprit for the issues, but it does enhance the audio experience.

If only they could release a fix... I won't hold my breath though.

It will be useful to understand whether the underlying problem is due to too much heat or inadequate (or poorly designed) fans or poor thermal pasting (or a combination). Run HWiNFO, select Sensors and allow access to the Dell EC. You can then monitor the temperatures at various points in the system and the fan speeds and hence get an understanding of the fan rules. I wouldn't be surprised if the thermal pasting used during production is inferior to that used during development.

    Hi all,

I'm contemplating the 7530 as a replacement for my MSI GS63VR 6RF (i7-6700HQ, GTX1060), which is dying for the 2nd time within its 2-year warranty.

I'm an electronic musician and audiovisual artist. Occasional gamer. My plan is to use the 7530 with an external GPU box via TB3. I don't need a fast GPU all the time and it 'd be economical to me if I can use my desktop's GPU with my laptop when I need to. Then I need to render realtime OpenGL 3D graphics on multiple HD projector outputs.

I need a reasonably powerful CPU, though not the top i7 or i9's. Looking at the i5-8400H as the 6-cores are getting too expensive for me. No dGPU, only Intel HD. That´s supposed to be most compatible with eGPU´s. 15" FHD display, no touch.

I don't think anyone here has such config. Still curious about the thermal performance. I'd be disappointed if it couldn't sustain high load with this lesser CPU and no dGPU in it. Anyone able to comment?

I also want my laptop to be quiet under light/no load. My MSI turns off fans completely. Can I expect this from the 7530?

    Much thanks, Dieter

Actually having 4-5%+ wear on a new battery is not normal, never had that on any laptop before this one. Batteries do not automatically wear without use unless they have been stored in poor conditions. Max 1% I would say is acceptable, otherwise it's not a new battery anymore and you are getting a used part. I believe Dell is not spending the effort and the $$$ to have these batteries transported and stored properly before installation.

Unfortunately I don't believe it's any of these.. whatever underlying fan rules/curves Dell has set they are just too aggressive, no matter what profile you set in the Dell Power Manager. As I stated before in my earlier post, CPU temps can be in the low to mid 40s, utilization almost nil, no other sensors with high temps, yet the laptop will choose to run the fans at 3900 RPM sometimes. Even 3000 RPM is too much for these sensor readings... really the laptop could be cooled passively or with 2000 RPM fans at the temperatures I'm seeing.

I was actually just referring to these 7530/7730 batteries, rather than laptop batteries in general. I haven't heard from anyone whose battery came with around 1% wear. So... "normal" for these systems but certainly not ideal.

You can still use an eGPU if you include a dGPU in your system, as long as graphics switching is enabled in the BIOS (Intel GPU is running the display). Windows will default to using an eGPU (if it is present) over a dGPU for rendering support. This could give the flexibility to beef up your graphics performance for when you are away from your eGPU.
