I just installed 1.16.3 today and while I didn't change my switchable graphics, it took along time to reboot.
Just a black screen, no activity for several minutes. I thought it was dead.

Just an FYI: I just received my Aorus Gaming box RTX 2070, and it works nicely with the 7510's TB3.

    Some notes:
    1) Didn't need to, but the Dell site had a thunderbolt firmware update that increased NVM from 16.00 to 26.01. Both firmwares say that external GPUS are not supported, but it works fine with both.
    2) Out of the box, my Host to device speed was half of what it should be (about 1050 MiB/s as per CUDA-Z).
I installed the 'host to device' firmware update on aorus's site ( https://www.aorus.com/GV-N2070IXEB-8GC#pd_download ) and that brought it up to the expected ~2020 MiB/sec

    3) I installed version 418.81 version of nvidia drivers off nvidia's site, rather than the slightly older ones on aorus's site (416.34).
nvidia control panel is acting wierd for me - not working with the 2070. and I still don't have 3dvision working. I feel this is occuring because part of the driver install happens after windows restart, and during the restart the egpu isn't connected yet.
    4) had a crash when I plugged in the aorus when windows was up and thunderbolt was 'always accept'. now I do 'accept once' each time and it works fine, although possibly that's causing #3. now that I type this, I should try again now that I've updated the tb3 firmware.
    5) plugging in the egpu kind of breaks the graphics driver for the m2000m. This isn't unreasonable as i don't (totally) expect two nvidia gpus to work. However, if I unplug the egpu, the m2000m stays broken, even on reboot, with a code 43 error. To fix it, I need to uninstall the m2000m in device manager (do not delete the driver). scan for hardware changes to reactivate it, reboot, and then it works again. a bit clunky, but oh well.

It basically worked fine out of the box. I'm pretty happy with it. Now the next step - to get a VR headset!

Interesting follow up on the HP Omen shell ( might apply to other external graphics though)

At some level of battery charge ( really random for me - from 35% to 5%) LAPTOP STARTS GETTING POWER VIA THUNDERBOLT FROM THE EGPU.
Found this all of a sudden when was trying to finish work with power brick left at different location. This shouldn't be happening for Precision, but it does :-D

The battery is not getting a charge, but shows "plugged in" at least and can work like this for days.

    Hi guys,

I plan to buy an eGPU shell, and... I decided to update may 7510 firmwares today. Firmwares are up to date now. Except for the Thunderbolt one... In fact, I never managed to update this one successfully. Seems this is a pretty common issue (Thunderbolt Controller Driver needs to be installed before the firmware can be updated), except the driver is indeed installed and up to date.

Tried to find some solutions to this pb, with no success. Seems the error simply disappears after some time for a few users. Seems some PCs simply have no TB hardware. And it also seems some users had to get their motherboard replaced.

This sounds a bit weird to me. I even doubt(ed) I have the required hardware (all I know is that I can flash an older firmware and that I have the TB options enabled in the bios).
So simple question : is there a reliable/simple way to be sure the hardware is there ?
And if it turns out everything is here... I assume only option is to contact Dell (my 7510 is still under warranty for a couple of months) ?

    Thx

So I decided to contact Dell. They simply confirmed their package is buggy and the installation should be forced using /f flag.
So everything is working just fine now

    Hi guys,

Is anyone using Dell 7510, Dell TB16 and Windows 10 version 1903?

My laptop will always BSOD at startup: Stop code KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE.

I have the latest drivers + BIOS updates for PC, dock and TB controller. Windows build is latest 18362.207
    - ASMedia USB Extended Host Controller Driver, 1.16.56.1, A13
    - Dell Thunderbolt Dock TB16 Firmware, 1.0.2
    - Intel Thunderbolt 3 Firmware Update, 4.26.10.001, A07
    - Intel Thunderbolt Controller Driver, 17.4.79.510, A12
    - Realtek USB Audio Driver, 6.3.9600.2208, A14
    - Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller Driver, 2.45.2019.0417, A16

Today I start my laptop like this. Plugin the TB cable so PC starts. Take the cable off for a few seconds and I connect it back. Now the Windows starts without problems. Not a big issue but it would be nice to live with this extra work.

When I updated Dell 7510 from Windows 10 version 1809 to 1903 the Dell TB16 was not connected.

The 1903 update failed always when Dell TB16 was connected. Maybe Windows was trying to warn me. This setup is not yet supported in 1903 like it seems to be. Yes I could go back to 1809 but this a minor problem.

Sometimes the external keyboard is a bit crazy like typing same letter a bit to many time like aaaaaaaaaaaaa.
But that's the way it always has been. Yes the good old E-Port Replicator docks just worked.

To workaround this keyboard issue, try disabling the CPU "C states" in the BIOS setup. This issue has plagued many machines with the Thunderbolt dock attached. They fixed it on the 7530/7730 after much complaining but I don't think that the fix ever made it back to older systems.

I have a 7510 as a spare machine. Haven't tried 1903 on it yet, it is still sitting on 1809. After issues of one kind or another with the last several Windows 10 "feature upgrades" I am now starting to wait a few months before upgrading any systems and then rolling the update out very slowly. :-\
I will say that, unless you have high-resolution displays attached (higher than 1080p), you could consider switching to the WD15 dock instead of the TB16. It works much better but for displays it is capped at 2x 1080p 60Hz (or 1x 4K 30Hz).

I was browing the latest bios notes (1.17.7) and noticed there is some sort of fix for a boot program with TB16 due to bios settings.
