I'm planing to buy a 2.5" usb3.1 gen 2 enclosure, type C to C cable. Is it compatible with thunderbolt 3 port on 7510?

The Thunderbolt 3 port supports USB-C devices.

I just tried every way possible to install the new BIOS update "1.16.3" but I was unable to get it to install. From Windows it does a check then reboots, it performs a couple of fairly quick restarts immediately after the initial reboot, then it completes the reboot only to find that it still has the old BIOS installed (1.15.4 I think). Any one here have luck installing the new BIOS? Any suggestions regarding the update would be appreciated. I.have tried from Windows, DOS and the F12 one time boot menu, all with no luck.

I just did on my 7710. I ran the file from the desktop and did not have any peripherals attached to it.

I updated a 7510 to BIOS 1.16.3 this evening. No issues, it went just like it always does.

Well I was finally able to get it to install by setting the video option in BIOS to Switchable Graphics to "On". After that it installed properly. Weird because I've never had to change that in the past. Oh well all updated now. Thanks to all that replied.

Just wondering if anyone here has replaced the 7510 motherboard with a 7520? I've looked over both boards with pictures available online and they physically look identical. I inadvertently messed up the docking port on my 7510 and want to replace the motherboard and since the price of the motherboards are comparable I might as well update if it's possible.

    Thanks

If you check the photos and make triple sure that the screw positions are the same (this isn't always the case for systems that have the same-looking chassis) then I see no reason why it would not work... Basically, you'd have a 7520 once this was done. There shouldn't be an issue with removable components (keyboard, screen, memory, SSD, battery). However, I can't say for sure about the GPU, MXM compatibility sometimes has odd issues and no one usually tries older GPUs in newer systems to see if it works.

    [Edit]
CPU/GPU positions must also be identical for the heatsink to fit.

    [Edit 2]
Realized that it is highly likely that INF modifications will be needed to install the driver for the GPU if you have an NVIDIA card, due to the hardware ID changing with the motherboard swap. You'll want to look into what is needed for that.

Thanks for the reply. I did look at the placement of the screw holes and they are all in the same place, but you are right, they could be a few millimeters off this way or tharableat and that would make installation a bit problematic. That is a good point about the video card though. At worst case it should still be operable with the built in Intel graphics until I figure out how to do the inf change. Again thanks for the reply

Update: I looked at the physical differences with the video cards and compared the M2000M which is the card in my 7510 and the comparable M2200 that is supplied in the 7520. The die on the M2200 is considerably larger but the heatsink mounting holes appear to be the same. Hmm, do I or don't I, that is the question.
