Does it happen with particular apps more often? It would be related to Optimus/graphics switching.

In the NVIDIA control panel, "Manage 3D settings", try changing the preferred graphics processor to "Integrated graphics" ... then restart the app and check again. (This will remove any acceleration from the NVIDIA GPU, but it is something to check and see if it is even the potential cause of your problem.)

Were you able to figure out the PremierColor crashing issue? Mine does the same thing.

My laptop's backlit keyboard would light up randomly and it's driving me crazy!

    I tried the following:
    re-installing the BIOs
    re-installing keyboard and touchpad drivers
    re-installing USB-related drivers
unplugging my mouse (keyboard still lights up)
re-installing graphics drivers (intel iris p580 and nvdia quadro m2000m) - if you're wondering why I did this it was because I noticed the keyboard would usually light up when I switch tabs or open another application. I thought the change in graphics might somehow be triggering the keyboard backlight
making a new windows account (wanted to see if the keyboard light was being triggered by some service/program)

none of them worked! it still just randomly lights up. I am starting to believe it might be a hardware problem.

I think this started happening sometime around the BIOs update that was pushed as a windows update recently. Does anyone know how I could install a previous version of the BIOs?

as a last resort I guess I could set the laptop to have the keyboard light always on. It shouldn't be too damaging since they're LED. but this really shouldn't be happening for a $2000+ laptop.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Also does anyone know of a way to monitor what exactly is triggering hardware behavior like your keyboard lighting up?

Two days ago I noticed my premeir color crashing immediately when trying to launch it too. So I've disabled it for now. At first I got a pop up saying premiere color crashed when I booted up, Then on subsequent launches or if trying to launch it manually from start menu it launches and displays icon in system tray (notification area) but then vanishes when rolling the mouse over it in tray (ie it crashed).

*Remembering now that I changed video settings in my BIOS about that same time, disabling switchable graphics as I was preparing to play a new game and I wanted to ensure I was using only the dGPU. Turning off switchable graphics might have had something to do with premiere color issue.

Last night I got another forced BIOS update.
The BIOS update doesn't happen unless you are plugged in.
It proceeded to boot into windows, after doing an windows update.

However, now my wifi wasn't working at all.
I plugged in, let it do the BIOS update. it also updated some intel stuff (?) and USB Type C (?).
Windows came up. WIFI wasn't working. In fact, I was getting errors all over the place in devicemanager.
The ethernet jack wasn't working either. I basically had no internet now.

I restored a november backup using macrium Reflect, and it seems to be okay now.
I guess tonight it'll try to update again, not looking forward to that. At least it's not the BIOS.
Really need to disable the BIOS update!

Hello, I'm looking at the 7510 (i7, M1000M, wide view 1080p IPS) to do some SketchUp. Can someone who owns this machine try SketchUp Make 2017 64-bit to confirm it works ok & the graphics switches to the nVidia w/o problems? I'd really appreciate it. http://www.sketchup.com/download/all

How can I play 5.1 surround over HDMI on the Dell Precision 7510?

I have my TV connected to the laptop via HDMI and my tv is connected to a surround amplifier via SPDIF.

I can see my TV listed in the "playback devices" overview, but when I try to "configure speakers", I only get the stereo option...

I noticed the driver mentioned for this device is the "intel diplay audio driver". This means the HDMI connection uses the onboard graphics card? Not the dedicated (nvidia) graphics card? Could this be related to the 5.1 issue?

The keyboard will light up based on touchpad activity. Try this.
    * Connect an external mouse (USB).
    * In the Dell Touchpad settings, click the "Mouse" option at the top and select the checkbox for "Disable touchpad & pointstick when USB mouse is present".

In this state, with an external mouse connected, the keyboard will not light up if you mess with the touchpad. If your keyboard light up issue is resolved, then "ghost" touchpad activity is to blame. You might have to have Dell replace your touchpad.

Anybody knows why the BIOS 1.9.4 has been removed from download, reverted to 1.8.3 ?
