Ahh, I never noticed that before. Thanks. I just now tested with switchable graphics enabled and un-checking the "Enable Dock Display Port" in BIOS, and of course you are right. My externals are fully controlled by dGPU docked to ePort even when not using that new Special Graphics option. Laptop display is via iGPU. I incorrectly presumed that everything passes through iGPU with switchable graphics enabled. I probably came to that conclusion while undocked or something.

I have had my 7510 for two months now and I am very happy :)

    My Config after upgrades,
    - i7 6820 HQ; M2000 Quadro; 16GB RAM Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 2400 MT/s ; 500GB Samsung EVO 850 as main drive. 2TB HDD as secondary drive; Windows 10 Pro; The nicer 1080p screen.

    Positive observations
    - Really solidly built. I still baby my gear but I am less worried now when I place the machine in my backpack. I feel like I can use the laptop as an impact weapon and continue working if needed.
    - Keyboard travel is really nice and feels like I am typing on a regular keyboard. I am able to maintain my normal 50 to 60 WPM on it.
    - I wasn't expecting an Apple trackpad but trackpad on the 7510 was nicer than what I was expecting. Yes, the three mouse buttons for the trackpad feel a tad mushy but it does no bother me. The pad is not as buttery smooth as a Mac but works well enough for me. I can move around Lightroom with it with no issue.
-Screen color accuracy is awesome. I bought the computer for photo editing purposes and I am amazed at the amount of detail I am seeing. I am re-editing the pictures I have published before and I am comparing them side by side, and I am seeing a definite improvement. How I wish I had this screen 5 years ago.
    - I know I got the slower EVO 850 but I giggle every time I start the laptop, its so fast! This is my first machine with SSD.
    - Fans are not noticeable during normal use. The only time I do notice them is when I am Importing/exporting RAW files in Adobe Lightroom 6 or Photoshop CS. I do notice the fans while playing Crysis 1 at max settings, they stay on all the time but they are not noticeable because of the sounds coming from the game. No decrease in performance after 1 to 2 hours of gameplay.

    Negative observations
    - I do notice some backlight bleed at the lower edges during bootup when the screen is totally black but this is not noticeable when I am actually using the machine.
    - The machine does get warm even during normal internet browsing use. CPU and RAM usage look normal. The hotspot is beneath the laptop, just under the GPU. Not a big deal if this is normal.
    - I agree with the other user here, the placement of the Home and End buttons is not well thought of. I would rather not press the FN key to be able to use these. I would rather give up the media playback keys at the upper right hand corner to get dedicated home/end keys.

Overall, I am still very happy with the machine. Its my first "nice laptop"; thanks to everyone here that answered my questions. :)

    PS.
Any of you guys hoping to upgrade to a Pascal GPU? I saw a laptop with MXM 1070s which gives me hope for a 1060 MXM-A card.

Yup. I found it for a good price.

I am happy with the speed but if I had to do it again, I would go for the Samsung 950 PRO Series, 256GB for the ludicrous speed. Or had it been available at the time, the 951.

Thanks ygohome. This was very helpful figuring out the scaling at my various locations (different number of external monitors of different sizes and resolutions). I need to change scaling ALL the time. I believe windows 10 custom scaling can only be set once and runs on all monitors at the same time - ie you can't change the scaling on each monitor. And as you pointed out, various apps deal with monitor resolution and scaling differently.

Anyway, the question is, do you know of a quick way to get to the "custom sizing options" scaling screen in windows 10? It is currently takes a half dozen clicks. Granted, it took me twenty times longer to write this than to just do it...
    1. Click a shortcut/taskbar icon to "ms-settings:display" (same as right-clicking on the desktop and choosing "Display Settings"). This gets you to the "Customize Display Window."
    2. Click on "Advanced Display Settings."
    3. Click on "Advanced sizing of text and other items." This gets you to: "Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display." I would think there should be a way to shortcut to here???
    4. Click on "set a custom scaling level." This link pops up the "Custom Sizing Options" box.
    5. Type in the desired scaling percentage.
    6. Click click click to close the 3 windows.

Win 10 can handle individual scaling per monitor. Problem is that few apps take note of a window going from one monitor to another with a different DPI setting. Most apps take the DPI info once when started and keep it. Apps need to specify their DPI abilities in their manifest. If that is not per monitor, Windows will apply bitmap scaling when a window switches to a monitor with a different DPI setting.

Windows Explorer is a sample for an app which resizes per monitor. With Office you will typically see one monitor with sharp window content while others with different DPI scales get blurry. As my 17" FullHD laptop and 24" 1920x1200 monitors are close enough I use a tool "Windows 10 DPI fix" to reenable the old Win8 scaling which puts one scale (125% DPI) on all monitors, so I get sharp window content on all screens. But combining FullHD and 4k won't work too well with only one DPI setting.

Hi, I just ordered a Dell 7510 with 1 stick of 8GB ram.
Do you think this Crucial will go fine with the system? Thanks

    Have a Precision 7510 with i5 and Intel SSD 512GB 2.5 (I guess it's Pro 2500 series). It's okay but I think the SM951 will do better.
    Very good keyboard.
I installed Firepro driver software in AMD website and the switchable graphics option showed up in advanced settings.

    I don't think the 7510 has the ability to have 2 x 2.5" drives.

Sorry, I meant I would go for the 256GB SAMSUNG 950 PRO M.2 that was available at the time for the M.2 slot.
