No biggie, its why the forums are around so we can share info and prevent bad purchases lol

I kind of want to get some Erasers or something and use them as feet for my m4600 :3 Mine are all worn off now so the laptop slides around a lot on any surface.

You guys deal with this as well or are your laptop feet still in good condition?

    EDIT:

@valuxin how do you have your HDD raid set up? Do you have Raid On? I've never used raid before but I am interested in giving a try now that I dont need additional storage on that system (5TB on the Ranger now).

    @TheReciever

Yeah, just enable it in the BIOS and during each boot there would be RAID info screen between POST and Windows boot. If I remember correctly, Ctrl + I is the combination for RAID setup while this screen appear. There are two rules that will keep your RAID alive:
    1. Don't use SSHD in RAID - it will be dead pretty soon (half a year if lucky)
    2. Create two RAID volumes: first one should be RAID1 and have to be at least several GBs, 2nd is obviously RAID0:) Why do you need this small RAID1 volume? Just to prevent some errors that can destroy your RAID and all files stored inside (I'd kinda ****ty situation while I was testing M2000M)
P.S. Idk about feet, coz my lap is kinda "integrated" within my TV :D

    Thanks for the info!

I was hoping to avoid enabling in BIOS but I knew it would be the case. That means I need to reinstall my OS on the SSD then right?

The SSHD's I had in my m4600 are now in the Ranger, I just have the regular 5400rpm 750GB drives in the m4600 now.

I got to say, that is one sick set up! All things considered it looks pretty clean considering the case is open for optimal heat dispersion.

Not really. The thing is, before changing from AHCI to RAID you should perform some regedit modification, otherwise you'll end up seeing BSOD (that was the case for Win8 and earlier - IDK what's on Win10 right now). Just google about "regedit bsod intel raid ahci".

I know Win7 (and onwards) need that registry mod (and driver-swap) to switch between AHCI and "IDE-compatible" modes, but i've never messed with RAID - does that need the same sort of treatment?

PS: I know i'm the new-comer here, but i think this is drifting slightly away from what this topic used to be / is "supposed to" be about :D

PS: valuxin, would it be reasonable to hope you should be receiving your RX560M in maybe about a month or so, ie. the sort-of-"standard" delivery time from China?

Just tried Raid On with Windows 10 and got the expected behavior, BSOD. I found a technet article with your terms and will give it a try :)

Or I could just let Win10 fail to boot a few times and let it restore itself. I did that on my Ranger a few days ago by accident without knowing lol

Yeah I guess it could be off topic, I see this thread now as more of a getting max performance out of the m4600 considering we messed with memory modding too, and all the traffic for this machine is basically here anyways. The official m4600 thread is basically dead.

Packages from China are a wild card since tracking typically doesnt work after it leaves the country so its hard to tell. Ive had packages take two months from China when I was in S. Korea but 2 weeks to get to the US.

"Yay"... But then again, i'm sort of in the same boat - i ordered a 10-pack of these cute little class-D amplifier boards at the end of august; they still hadn't arrived at the end of october (and they still haven't). Contacted the seller, they said they'd send a replacement pack via some air-mail or something, and that those would be here within two weeks; it's been three now...

    Fun times... :D

Yeah its hard to predict packages from China, I have better experiences dealing with Hong Kong resellers but typically when we look at China for orders its because no where else can provide what we desire...

    1st world problems eh? lol

Ive already reset the PC with Raid On, all looks good so far.

Quick update: Downloading and installing latest bios from dell didn't help with no restart after shutdown issue so I guess I'll have to take apart the laptop again and clean the GPU reinstall hope for the best. If the card does it even after cleaning it I'll probably return to seller and get another one off ebay.

    Thanks for all the help!
