    Hello Michael,
Sorry to hear it's been such trouble. I can't confirm any failures on startup or such.
Technically the only thing had been the optical drive sound and fans spinning unusual.
But both seem fixed. The optical drive by new bios and the fans I'm not sure how. I've been running all driver and windows updates that come along, played a bit with energy settings.

I'd send it back within the given 30 day period, and start from the beginning. I never trust fixing machines with such big shortcommings.

Just wanted to put this out there for anyone ordering a Precision from the SMB store:

    WCD076MH17DW4M takes off 20%. So the QHD $1989 M4800 becomes a not-so-bad $1591

Anyone know how nice the QHD+ screen is? I know this is the 6800 forum but I see posts about the 4800. Figured someone has it by now.

That is a seriously nice discount. Thinking about calling my rep, or customer service, to see if I can get it applied. Doubtful, but with 2 canceled orders and a huge delay, it might be worth a shot?

That's a nice review. However at the end it says that Optimus is not available with the QHD+ display. If that is true I will be returning mine.

The precision M4800 is now available here in Sweden with 30% discounts. The model with qhd+ display may cost 23k SEK, thats for me with 10% extra discounts. Should I pull the trigger?

    Damn...I have only 12k right now ;)

I don't think you will be able to get a phone rep to let you use the coupon, and unfortunately it doesn't work on the Premier site. I was able to get a chat rep to use it but since he couldn't give me any other benefits I just purchased it online from the SEC site. We'll see if it arrives on time

Quality looks good but it's quite ugly to be honest.

Wow, that is too bad and would explain the battery life somewhat. I'm betting that an average thermal paste job gets the fans spinning more than they should, thus lowering battery life even more. I've noticed that the fans on my M6700 have a rather noticeable impact on battery life.
