Yes, I ordered an m6800 and questions about that order have been answered after one or two hours.

But our reps have no dates for when more options will be getting available.
So sometime the reps just don't no better.

Nevertheless you should get an answer, even if it is just "We do not know at the moment."

This is probably a dumb question... Will the graphic cards from M4800 work porperly on a M4700? I belive Nvidia states that it is intended for Haswell, but no such statement from AMD.

This is a case where you'll have to try and see. It should work. We've had positive stories from people using M6700 cards in the M6600, for example (both AMD and NVIDIA, IIRC), and also things like GeForce cards work even though they're not available with the system as an option. But, the M4800/M6800 cards are new territory, we'll need a guinea pig. :p

So you're not going to wait until the options are available?

I got a message this afternoon, that my order should be delivered 'early next week' - I'm just amazed that they can't be more specific.

    Kind regards

    Brian

IMHO, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't work. Same GPU tech, same MXM standard..

I suspect the delay is out of their hands.

One possibility is customs inspection where it enters your country. Might be slower than normal since it is a new product.

Another possibility is the delays were caused by Usagi, which is the largest (typhoon/hurricane/cyclone) storm of 2013 so far. So delay might depend on how much damage the travel/shipping infrastructure took and how long it takes to remove/repair it.

Or a combination of the two. (e.g,. shipments were delayed by Usagi, so now custom inspectors are overloaded).

    Just speculating...

The base options with i7 4800qm, firepro m6100 and 8GB in two slots where OK for me as I wanted to buy additional RAM and SSDs separately anyways and will continue using my current mSata SSD.

I would have preferred intel wlan and a current HSUPA card but that was nothing I would have wanted to wait on for an unknown period of time. I will try if my old 5620 mobile card works in the m6800 as well as the mini pcie cards might be standardized enough.

In fact there could be many reasons not the least of which is due to their suppliers. Nevertheless, they do send you an ETA and update it if necessary. In retrospect the delay I experienced is insignificant.
Agreed. In fact this up grade capability was my primary reason for choosing this model. I sincerely hope I was not mistake.

Now that we know that the M4800 doesn't have 6 Gbps mSATA, is it still wise to go for a 256GB Plextor M5M ? Or 256GB Samsung 840 Pro or similar drive will be noticeably faster ? Its just that mSATA will leave the main bay empty for storage but with a regular SSD, I'll have to go for optical bay caddy and OEM caddies are expensive (doesn't come without a HDD).

I can't attest for Plextor brand, but with Micron up to 400+ GB, I'd give a resounding yes.
