I wonder how the gaming industry survived all those years of 16:10 non-"visual entertainment ratio" at all..

Even better how did we with 4:3? We didn't have anything better.

Honestly, I have nothing against it--so long as there's a choice--but unless you're viewing text, there's nothing sacred about 16:10.

Maybe I'm wrong here, but I'd wager that the majority of laptop everyday uses happen to be related to "viewing text" in one way or another so then there's a problem with ever diminishing vertical space (4:3 doesn't really count here as I don't think the resolution went higher than 1600*1200).

But, to get back to the topic, it would really be a pleasant surprise to have such an option on the next Precision (there's obviously enough vertical bezel space remaining with this funky 16:9 format). I sincerely doubt it, but if it happens, I wish it would be possible on a smaller footprint (the 16:10 one, like M6400 and M6500 had); didn't measure it, but perhaps the 16:9 screen might fit it if it had very thin side bezels.

All I can say is, I'd order one the day it is available. I'm still on my M6400 for that very reason. Well, it's doing fine, and performance is still acceptable, but having great performance instead of acceptable would be nice, though...

Do you have any additional evidence for this?

Edit: A Dell rep's response to the idea in my signature suggests that your source might be right.

If there's anything of interest here would someone please point it out? [IMG]

From what I gather, this is basically the beginning of a feud between Intel and Nvidia. But as far as improvements to the basic product, not so much.

On the other hand, maybe that's because integrated graphic are of no use to me? A scant increase in batter life maybe, but I won't rush out to the store because of it.

Only at the office, at home, not so much. But for me I can read text just fine.

Incidentally, as I'm predominately involved in media, my whole use is predicated on the 16:9 ratio, so for me, it would be just the opposite.
