    i have the M6600 right now and i'd prefer a 2560x1440 display in the new model - that would be awesome and very useful (at least for me). also with 17" it should be very readable.

    Surely you mean 2560x1600, right? ;)

    hehe - 2560x1600 would be PERFECT ;)
    but as we have this stupid 16:9 trend i guess we won't see to much of our prefered 16:10 displays any more...
    anyhow, 2560x1440 would still be MUCH better than 1920x1080...

    Nope, the 16:10 is not coming back and neither is Elvis. Can we please move on now folks?

    No need to invoke Elvis. Outside of the Windows universe 16:10 is still very alive (Apple laptops, Tablets such as Kindle HD -9, and others). Unlike what many said about Apple having to abandon 16:10 in their new laptops, they didn't. And because of that you can count on another defection to the Apple camp. Having a 2560x1440 option on the Windows side (not dreaming on 2560x1600 unfortunately) could prevent that switch but nothing on the horizon. I had many Dell 16:10 laptops and could not believe that they would regress in the new models so badly. Broken record I know, but another lost customer.

    Lousy analogy.

    Why? You got a problem with that?

    Just does not make sense when so many people voice support for 16:10.

    Maybe some other mfg can be talked into 16:10, like Lenovo or Asus.

    maybe there is suddenly still a little chance to see 16:10 again:

    just found an interesting article (rumors) about an upcomping 17" Alienware notebook (Dell is Alienware's mother) which should have an option for a 16:10 display
    Neues Alienware m17X Notebook mit Haswell - DellManiac

    => english:
    The display will be a 1920 x 1080 IPS screen, but there are probably displays at a higher resolution and one with a 16:10 aspect ratio planned.

    If they can do it for their 17'' Alienware notebook - why not for their 17'' M6800 Precision line ??

    Regarding the Alienware machine, we should know all details by June 10. (computex)

    Which might make sense on a Precision for some business, but makes zero sense on a gaming notebook that follows an visual entertainment ratio. I use a 16:10 where I study Photoshop and its just awkward. Nevertheless, as long as they provide me a choice I have nothing against making it available.
