News on Haswell based mobile Precision M6800 ?

    Yesterday, the dutch website Tweakers.net reported that Dell will soon announce a new mobile workstation in the Precision series, the Precision M3800, with the following specs:

    - 15.6" display, 1920x1080 or 3200x1800 pixels, optional touch screen
    - Intel Core i7-4702MQ processor
    - Nvidia Quadro K1100M graphics card with 2GB memory
    - upto 16 GB RAM memory
    - 1 TB HDD or 512 GB SSD
    - Waves Maxx Audio Pro
    - chiclet keyboard with backlight
    - 61 Wh or 91 Wh battery

    The M3800 has a matt black finish with an aluminium rim and measures 18 mm at its thickest point and 8 mm at its thinnest point.

    It will be available by the end of this year and price ranges from $1699 to $1999.

    Pretty hot screen res. Beats the MacBook. Lets hope everything else is good. And bring that to the 17" models too!

    End of the year seems a bit of a turn off. I would love to sell off my M4600 and Vaio SB and get myself a new precision next week.

    Forgot to mention that the M3800 has four USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader and an HDMI port.

    It lacks an ethernet port and docking connector, so you would have to use a USB 3.0 docking station that includes an ethernet port or a USB-to-ethernet converter.

    Quick question, does Dell usually discount their new laptops from the very beginning (the "instant savings") or do they wait awhile? I'm trying to decide whether to pull the trigger now or wait on this beast. Thanks.

    No dock, no deal. Period! It is disappointing that there's no docking connector. :(

    If you're in the US, it's very likely, if you're in Canada, don't count on it.
