Was told three weeks ago to look for the Haswell Precisions in two weeks... am now being told to look for them "in a couple of months". They told me if I gave them all of my company info and signed an NDA they would send me the DELL laptop road-map. I told them I'll pass on that. I'm betting they will be available sometime in Oct or Nov so if you're on the fence about Haswell vs. Ivy I would ay grab a sweet deal on an Ivy now, no telling when DELL is going to get their sheet together and get their flagship units out.

This doesn't tie directly into this thread but I thought some of you may find this important/useful. So I too was waiting for an m4800 but had to get a laptop at the last minute and purchased a Latitude e6540 (Haswell). The e6540 takes DDR3L memory which works at 1.35v and WILL NOT take 1.5v or greater memory (I tried my 16gb of 1.5v and it just stared at me). So if any of you were hoping to transfer memory over to the new Precision you may be out of luck.

DELL is supposed to be releasing a news update on the Haswell Precisions Mobile Workstations tomorrow (Wednesday). You would need to do a live chat with a CSR to find out what it is. I'll post what I hear if no one else does.

I want to but don't think that would be available.
Only few people are willing to pay several hundred dollars for a premium LCD panel. Its not much profitable to have that option available I guess. Same thing happened to Alienware M17x RGB LED 16:10.

HP DreamColor may be gone soon too.

Unlikely. This class of workstations already caters to a pro market. If anything, they will become even more demanding, not less.

Yep. Quality built workstations are usualy ordered in bulk by companies. My moms company orders 400 elitebooks every 3 years for mundane office work on the go due to reliability (vibratio/dust/humidity). At least 20 od those bave ips screens and it is a very big profit when you look at a global scale.
