I'm thinking about buying the Vostro 3450. It's difficult finding reviews though - the two things I'm concerned about are weight and battery life. Anyone have an answer?

I got my Vostro 3750 today. Firstly, I expected a lot more bloatware. The system felt quick and responsive. Browsing and switching between apps felt smooth. Still, I went ahead and did a clean install of Windows 7 and repartitioned the 500GB hdd (first backing everything up via the Dell utility and also using the Windows 7 built-in backup utility). After a couple of hours my system is fresh and fully updated.

My main beef with the laptop is the display. I ordered the 17" matte 1600x900. The vertical viewing angles are very narrow. Horizontal is okay. The problem is the dot pitch. The spacing between the pixels is so big it's noticeable even sitting at arms length. It makes light backgrounds seems darker (white looks slightly greyish). Photos look grainy and sometimes text on white backgrounds look slightly fuzzy. It's very annoying and slightly depressing.

I've been looking at the Vostro 3450 for a little while and it seems to have everything I need as a reliable business notebook with a decent keyboard and graphics card. For those who own it, is the screen any good? Also, how's the structural quality?

    Hi,

i have a Vostro 3450 and i am very happy with my dicision.
The display is ok the colors are okay and it is bright enough. But the viewing angles aren't that good so you have to adjust the screen often.
The quality of the base unit is great, the quality of the screen cover doesn't feel that good but the panel is still well protected.

I have just ordered an 3350 with the i7 and 2GB of ram (it worked out cheaper to upgrade the ram myself)

Stuck with the Intel Video though.

Not really using it as a laptop, but it will be moved from home to work each day and hooked upto a screen & keyboard.

Think you could test out the battery life. That is my main concern putting me off this laptop
