Notebookcheck.de has reviewed the Vostro 3350. They also tested 3550 and 3750 some days ago.

i am planning to buy vostro 3350 (i2310, 2gb ram, 320 gb hdd, amd 6470m gpu), is it true that we cant upgrade the hard disk with any high capacity disk ( bec of its size) ? are the smaller size hdd readily available?? is it advisable to buy vostro 3350 or should i go for acer timeline 4820tg??
will amd 6470 good in terms of gaming?? currently i'm using dell studio 15 with ati 4570, i wish it was a bit better in terms of gaming, although 6470 has a better ranking than 4570 as per notebookcheck, is it advisable to go for it??

According to the review here: Review Dell Vostro 3350 Subnotebook - Notebookcheck.net Reviews

So I think it should be fine with a normal sized one.

Will know tomorrow when mine arrives :D

EDIT: Just seen a photo of the cage in that review and the 9mm will definitely fit.

I'm interested in the Vostro 3350.

    1. Anyone knows if the CPU in the 3350 is soldered? Is there a service manual or install guide available?

    2. Is the Vostro 3300 battery compatible to the 3350?

Vostro 3300 has a PGA processor, so I would assume the 3350 would be as well. Not sure about the battery question.

For Dell's latest computers, there is no service manual out yet.

Does anyone have any idea if its likely the 3350 will be able to have its optical drive swapped for a second hard disk.

I think I have seen caddies for the last model vostros.

just got my 3350. takes a standard 9.5mm 2.5" hard drive. Optical drive does not look user replacable to me. perhaps with some surgery, i wont be finding out though.

solid little laptop, great keyboard, decent trackpad, screen is what i expected so i cant complain.

1000% better than the lenovo edge 420s that i returned a few weeks ago. Very pleased with it so far.

I bought the Vostro 3750 17.3 inch with the i5 last week, and I could not be happier. This is my first chicklet keyboard, and I'm actually loving it. For some reason my typing style gets a lot better performance with it. I think it's due to have size 12 finger's and they way they are spaced.

I use the laptop primarily for development purposes, but do some light gaming on it. So far it has handled everything I have thrown at it with ease. The screen is nice and clear, and I have not had any problems viewing content from different angles.

The only thing I need to do to this laptop is upgrade it to 8GB ram, as I need to run 4 VM's at once when code testing (compile, push code to all four, and they automatically test the code via custom made scripts.). Right now I can run 2 without any problems (along with my development tools, visual studio and such + netflix playing HD), I could probably run four if I dropped the RAM to 512 per VM, but I like to keep my VM's running at 1GB of ram a piece to test minimal system requirements on the code.

So all in all I am very happy with my purchase. It was a good price for a well rounded laptop.

Two screws held the optical drive in place.

My caddy for a second drive from my lattitude e6500 won't fit yet.

Will look again to see if I can remove a bit of plastic from the hdd caddy. If not will try buying one of the last gen vostro caddies.

But looks promising, I hope I can add an SSD to my 3350 as well as the standard hard disk.
