Man now the desktop image has color banding. The external 2nd monitor has the same background image & is still fine.

Neither the K5000M nor the 5010M fit the M6500, because the M6500 was the final, or the only, I do not know which, M6#00 to have a very uniquely shaped proprietary format instead of the MXM format. I still have my very uniquely shaped 5000M for sale, folks! No one so far has dared to make me an offer.

[Edit:] rintalahri, I remember now that you inquired about my 5000M but never made an offer. Please do not balk at choosing an amount; the worst thing that can happen is that I turn you down!

    Hello,

Can someone tell me the best e/Port Docking station to use with the M6500 these days? Disregard the power supply - I'll use a separate 240W slim one. Dell had the Pro2X in the M6500 heyday, but now there's also Pro3X. There's a myriad of models out there, although the one branded for the M6500 is Manufacturer Part# : R537F / Dell Part# : 430-3312.

My only special use is an external NEC LCD2690WUXi monitor which I calibrate for photo color using NEC's software which is similar to many other color calibration software getups. Right now I connect it to the M6500 thru the DisplayPort using a StarTech DP2DVIS DisplayPort - DVI adapter and am happy to keep using it in the docking station.

    Thanks, Ralph

    Hello

I have a M6500 under warranty but is finishing so I´m in a hurry. I have different problems now fixed by technical service like changing the bluray recorder, the graphic card (maybe the maker of random black screen shudowns and freezes). The thing is that they change the motherboard too 2 times for another problem. The BIOS said at the begining that it could not start the TPM, so we tried to enter in BIOS by F2 and then enable it but it say we have to restart to have it enabled but it never enables, this is always in grey color(no option to eneble ever). The DELL technical crew here in my country thought it was the motherboard but aftter trying 2 new ones and even the original one again, it always give us the TPM problem. The even change all the rest of the cards attached for USBS with same result. I don´t want more visits ogf the Dell technic or more apperture of my laptop so please I need a solution. This technical services is horrible. What you can do for you nobody will fight the same way. Any DELL Technical people here? Is there anything we can try?. I have tried to find some information by google and in one page it say that when is blocked you have to wait from 20 to 24 hours with laptop ON to unlock the option, but it sounds extrage sollution to me and because the laptop is every day been open in my house I have never have 24 hours to test. Please help me. THANKS!!

Has anyone been able to install Windows 8 from a USB stick? I did this ALL the time with Windows 7, but I used the Microsoft official tool to make a Windows 8 stick from the TechNet ISO, and it would never ever see the drives. I have two SSDs and a HDD installed (one in the DVD slot), and it doesn't see any of them. I put the DVD drive back in and installed from the same ISO burned to a DVD just fine. I also tried the USB stick with just the DVD drive out to make sure it wasn't the 3rd drive causing issues.

I tried the stick in both the left and right ports. I know on my Win7 stick, it wouldn't work from the USB3 port, I guess because it sees the stick differently.

    Pointers would be great!

    ALSO,

Since this is a M6500 thread, I would ask anyone already running Windows 8 to check this out... After I manually set IPs on any NIC in this system, when I go back to TCP/IP v4 Properties to revert back to automatic IP, the currently set static is not there. It plays like it is already DHCP, when in fact it is NOT. See this thread here for more info, and test it out for me if you can.
