Thanks man! Just what I needed to know ...

One more question: in history of M6500 was there possible to buy Covet version with i5 processor or Dell sell Covet only with i7?

SVN works for all files. SVN is usually used in programming and other developmental projects to keep a record of all changes done to source files, web pages, documentation, and the like, because for large projects like these, it's all too easy to come up with some underlying bug that would require you to roll back all the programming done back to a certain point, that may even lie weeks or months in the past. SVN makes that easier to do.

Very powerful, I can completely see why a programmer/development project could need this.. Now you put it this way, I can see how this will help me too!

    Thanks!

I doubt I5s!!! I think the base Covet starts with 3K$ .. no? BTW, if you are going new - don't pay for RAM upgrade from DELL, that's a rip off.. You can have 4GB*2 DDR3 for less than 80$$ these days..

This is so off topic, but you could also use Git instead of Subversion.

Yeah I was feeling I was getting off topic, I specifically wanted advice from M6500 owners since they usually have the same types of issues (backup of masses of amounts of data) as I do, as well as the same platform.. i.e. multiple often RAIDed drives/+1 mini SSD... but as it went on I realize it is becoming quite off-topic.

I was hoping it wouldn't be more off topic than the advice for bags for M6500, but it is really grey/gray area now... My apologies, and.. thanks for the added input regarding Git...

    Thread closed :)

Did someone mention my name? :)

Seriously though, thanks for the link Bokeh, some interesting ideas there.

Personally I use Ghost to make a backup image of the basic install with all my main apps and programs installed and configured. Then I do a sync backup once a week to an external drive, and occasionally do another image if doing major updates.
