    I just got a My Book Essential 3TB and when I test the hard drive, I find the write speed only goes up 55 M/s. Anyone know the reasons or anyone has usb 3.0 hard drive? Thanks!

    What are your buffer settings on the drive?

    Well it is official; Dell tech support is unacceptably deficient.

    I attach photo of my dual core M6500. The two memory slots under the keyboard are blocked out encased in a plastic shroud with a "memory forbidden" symbol engraved on it. The shroud is designed to not be removed.

    Dual core motherboards do not support four memory slots.

    A shame really, because this i7-640M dual core M6500 is visibly faster than my i7-840QM one.

    Wow, they built a dummy for that. My first board had just the naked contact bar. (attachment)

    Which still leaves the question why there are special dual core boards at all.

    I meant your cache settings when you go to the drive in the Device Manager in windows.

    A Better Question;

    Has anyone tried to assemble / modify a M6500 motherboard with 4 memory slots{all populated] with a i7 640M CPU to see if it operates and recognizes all 4 memory slots?

    Hi. I have a Precission M6500 with core i7 x920, Ram 16Gb, two 256GB SSD in raid mode.

    I have been experience some problems, because after to have the computer on for some hours, suddenly starts to be very very slow. Even the sounds of the sistem are like strobo sounds. I dont remember to have that problem before, but I have to restart the system all the time to fix it. Even closing the programs running doesnt fix the thing. I have to restart. I also have seen the system manager window and not any of the processors looks to be busy, but the syster is very very slow. Maybe it could be the HEAT? I almost burn my hand when I touch in the back of the laptop. I use to navigate internet with firefox. Maybe it could be adobe flash player? It could be Norton antivirus? Please, help me. Thanks!

    That's not normal, it has to be something with system overheating ... Try to open it and check if airflow through the heatsinks is not blocked by dust ... if it's not, then check if heatsinks are properly attached to the processor ...
