Thank you for those images -what is next to the webcam? -is it an LED light or a sensor?

Probably a bit too soon -but do you plan to check if the Video card is a MXM type ?

    Hi Bokeh,

Did you know that the NVIDIA 195.xx drivers are crashing all over the place.

Here is one that has some bearing, a Dell Latitude E6400
user is having problems With that same driver 195.62, you’re telling people how to
alter the INF file on a $5,000.00 + machine. Are you going to buy them a new M6500?

All I am trying to say is you need to verify this type of information before posting something like that.

These are just drivers. People have been updating inf files like this for years. I would hope that someone interested in running non standard drivers would know the benefits and drawbacks. I have run the 195 drivers for about a month on my e6500 and m6300 with no issues at all. Thats why i put them on the m6500, in my opinion and experience, they are better drivers.

Hacking firmware and loading it onto a card could mess up the machine - but i would not recommend anything like that. This is just software.

I understand that, I know exactly what you’re talking about, but for newbees this action is patently damaging to their System, add some warning thats all.

I have used a variety of video card drivers including geforce and quardo drivers on the opposite hardware. The worst I have ever seen happen on a Dell machine is that there will be video glitching or a random crash if the video driver does not work well with a card. The Dell drivers do not overwrite firmware, do not change clock settings, and most likely do not change fan operation.

Even on the forum post you linked, the user stated that they were having the same problems with the stock Dell 186.xx drivers as well as the 195.xx drivers.

If a user wants to break their machine, they can download software from nvidia that will let them overclock their card. In the old days people would flash one card with the firmware from another one, which was also risky.

I understand where you are coming from though. We live in a litigious society and some people don't do well with taking responsibility for their own actions. I will edit the post to include a disclaimer that using non-standard drivers can lead to system crashes and may not increase performance.

My guess is that you are trying to look out for people with less experience, and your probably looking out for me too.

The wireless appears to be awesome. I just got home and I see 3 networks from the neighborhood that I have never seen before. The 2 networks at my house are both reading 5 bars (compared to 3 that I usually get in this room from my other 2 machines).
