As a module I am sure it can, since the drive is removeable.
... just looked. Is it actually user removeable? Mine fell out a while back, but I just popped it back in :p

Anyhow, I wonder if this is compatible:
DELL 2X Serial ATA Blu-ray Disc Drive with Rewritable Media for Dell Latitude E6400/ 6400 ATG/ E6500 Laptops / Precision M2400/ M4400 Mobile WorkStations : Storage, Drives & Media | Dell
When I search on the DANISH site, I find the drive for $1200 -- a little bit more than I would want to pay to play Blu-Ray to be frank ;)

    It should be compatible.
According to this review [1] of the M2400 it has a PLDS DVD+-RW DU-8A2S drive, which according to Dell [2] has the same basic specs (dimensions, interface) like the HL-DT-ST DVD+/-RW GSA-U20N that I have in my M6500.

Now all you gotta have is the dosh to pay for it ;)

But thanks for the confirmation :)

[edit] Well, when I say, confirmation, I more mean "piece of advice" -- not holding you or me responsible if someone buys it and it does not work (however much it should [edit]

Just a seat of the pants observation....I've had this SSD drive in for 5 days, and I'm feeling the speed....this thing is a scorcher! Fastest computer I've ever had.

Just finished a clean install of Win 7 Ultimate. The only drivers I downloaded from Dell, are the Bluetooth, Dell ControlPoint, TI Cardreader, audio, Synaptics and ATI software.

I still have a problem though. Someone, I think TheZoid, mentioned that to get the USB 3.0 to work, he activated it in the BIOS and after reboot, Win7 downloads the driver. No such luck with mine. Even after explicitly ordering it to search for the best driver, Win7 doesn't download it. Device Manager continues to show 'Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller with a yellow exclamation mark.

I bit the bullet and downloaded the NEC driver from the web, version 20 I believe. That did the trick, partially, since while it moves the hardware to the USB section, it does mention the hardware isn't active and it still shows a yellow exclamation mark.

Right now, I've got no driver installed so it's located under 'Other Devices'. Does anyone have any idea how to get the damn things to work? And yes, the two ports on the left side are indeed blue. I've net yet tested it with any of my USB devices nor do I have any USB 3.0 devices to test with.

I had the same issue in that there was never a driver downloaded automagically by Win7. I installed the NEC driver from Dell's own site to get the ports working, and they show up in the device manager under Universal Serial Bus Controllers as NEC Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller and Root Hub.

When I did that earlier, I got the same however, with a smaller version of the yellow exclamation mark. When I then checked properties, Win7 stated that the controller wasn't working. I then downloaded two more recent versions of the NEC driver (19 and 20) which gave the same message. Is this the case with yours too?
