I noticed on my order for the m6500 that the salesman wrote 1066mhz memory instead of 1333mhz memory. I thought it was just a mistake since the 1333mhz memory is standard. But "oh no". If I had not called to check I would have really gotten the 1066mhz memory instead. The 1333mhz memory is much more expensive but why get the worlds hottest computer with old memory????

I have been in the testing stage for at least 18 hours now. From what I have read, testing is only supposed to take an hour or so unless they find a problem. If I am lucky, it has already entered the boxing stage and is on a plane to Nashville, but I am doubtful that the order status system would skip a step.

Est. ship date is still holding at Dec 23rd.

I would still like to know if anyone else has gotten past the build stage yet.

Considering that 1333 mhz RAM tends to have higher latency, yea. It doesn't really matter.

    Hey Sgogeta4

I'm new here, but you made me curious - how come DELL won't add Nvidia/ATI gaming cards to the M6500? I was just thinking if there was a marked then why not go for it? Personally I would really LOVE to get my hands on a M6500 920XM with Radeon 5970 CF or something sick like that :)

I know there is some problems with the space, but I hope you understand what I mean - we wan't high-end gaming cards for this lappie! :)

Oh ye while I'm typing I might as well ask - Do anyone know if this machine can handle RAID 0 with 2 x Intel 25-M G2 disks? What about the wickedly fast Intel 25-E, can the M6500 handle those or is it just way overkill?

Because the laptop is designed as a workstation, hence the lack of gaming cards.

In addition, it won't fit two cards due to space + heat issues.

And yes, it should be able to handle RAID 0 with 2 SSDs.

To expand on what dtwn said, the M6500 is designed and marketed as a workstation. Even if it was feasible to offer a gaming GPU in the M6500, it would confuse the marketing. The worlds most powerful workstation suddenly is in competition with Sager and even Dell's own Alienware. The perception earned by getting gamers into the fold could even erode its image in the business sector.

Also, as I understand it, the GPU is built on the most powerful mobile gaming card anyway...how much worse could it be at playing games than the 280m? There's just so little upside to this, and so many downsides.

So that means I could safely get me a pair of 'INTEL X25-E 64GB 2.5# SATA/300 SSD SLC' without wasting my money? I mean these disks are supposed to be pretty darn fast :)

About the graphics question - I know I didn't say it but I'm actually hoping that ATI/Nvidia would get the M6500 a DX11 card asap, because that is mostly what's holding me back for the time being ..
