I posted my exact dimm manufacture/model number earlier in this thread, go find it

I really don't expect any ddr4 sodimm ram incompatibility issues (until maybe ddr4l comes out and they boneheadedly did not make it backwardcompatible ), unlike the m.2 issue

Thank you! Yes, they were in page 7, but I had read this thread only after your comment about the M.2 disk installed in the WWAN slot in page 9. You´re using G.SKILL F4-2133C15D-32GRS and I would thank anyone telling me about Kingston/Crucial/other confirmed alternatives as well (basically, because Crucial CT16G4SFD8213 would be 10€ cheaper).

From what I could understand, I´m a bit in a mess, as I will have a 256GB disk that I don´t want, and I miss the cable and caddy for a 2,5" HDD. In case there´s anyone in the UK/Europe interested in swapping his regular HDD+cable/E5470caddy for my future new (outlet) SSD+bracket, just send me a message...

These are two things that I have ordered that I´m afraid I won´t need:
    - 256GB M.2 2280 Self Encrypted Solid State Drive
    - Dell Wireless 5811e LTE Mobile Broadband

Even though the Crucial site says it isn't supported, I picked up the Crucial 32gb DDR4-2133 kit. Since I don't rely on my laptop for anything time-sensitive, I figured I'd try it and see how it went. It works just fine.

I have the 6440HQ with Intel IGP.

Good to know. I got a bit afraid because I read a person somewhere else complaining that Crucial Ballistix BLS2K16G4S240FSD (DDR4-2400) did not work in his E7440.
Do you have at hand the model of your Crucial modules? Thank you!

BTW, I´ve just read that the 62whr battery in the E5570 does not allow the installation of a 2,5" SATA HDD. If that´s the case with the E5470, then I guess I will have to give up on my idea of using classic technology.

That´s perfect! Thank you again! (And yes, I meant E7470, not E7440).

Which battery do you have? There's a remark in the E5470 manual that the 6 cell battery will not co-exist with a 2.5" drive while the illustration here suggests that the M.2 slot overlaps the 2.5" drive bay (but might be underneath it). However, the battery specs mention only a 4 cell battery.

It´s the 4-cell battery, so, according to the manual, it shouldn´t be a problem: "If your computer supports a 6-cell battery, it will not support a hard drive."
I have to think what´s my best option to increase storage. Thank you!

Hello guys, thanks for the thread, it helped me a lot to decide which laptop I am buying.

I live in Spain and, unfortunately, it isn't an option to buy from Dell UK outlet (they require a UK credit/debit card). I am going to buy this model https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product...act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2OAJ7377F756P as it is the most affordable I can't get.

As I am on a low budget, I will initially upgrade only the storage to an SSD 2.5" drive. Do you have some recommendation of size and model regarding this upgrade as to make the model more future proof? Considering that I don't have a lot of money to expand right now.

    Thanks in advance!

I would recommend a minimum of 500GB SSD because (i) performance reduces on some drives for the lower capacities and (ii) SSDs maintain their performance better if at least 10% is left unpartitioned and can be ued for better garbage management (it's called "over-provisioning").

Unless you are planning to be reading and writing terabytes on a regular basis then a relatively cheap but current generation consumer SATA SSD will be enough.
