just a warning about edocks on ebay.... there is an older usb-2.0-only version, and newer usb-3.0 version (usb ports at the back are blue for 3.0

model numbers are the same (PR02X), some sellers use stock images w/ 3.0 even though they have older version

    not necessary?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Latitu...-8GB-128GB-SSD-Windows-10-PRO-2-/152086704223

this has 18260+6820hq, but dunno if its real specs

anyways, very happy with my edock plus (can do independent triple extended mode using 2 externals), other than the spacer issue that doesn't affect me

That seems promising--I like the idea that I just need to find the right card to make it work more than the idea that Dell would cobble together a computer with an antenna that cannot be used in combination with this CPU. But at the same time, I'll look more closely at the edock--it does offer more ports than the WiGig one was going to, any ways. (Much more comparable to the one for my old Thinkpad.) Thanks again!

too tired, my mind hates me this week

    it's eport, not edock

eport plus (PR02X) and eport (PR03X)....

eport plus has more ports, get this. make sure it has 2xDVI+DP connectors... as I mentioned before, dell/resellers mix up part numbers all the time

Has anyone found a cheap BIOS password unlock service for the E5470 - the cheapest I can find is around £45 (GBP).
Mine is locked by our IT department and I would like to tweak a few settings..

FWIW, with my M4800 I use an eport dock at work, but also have two wireless docks at home, mostly for the super fast wifi connection.

None of you would have possibly done some undervolting and repasting on these machines have you? If you have I'd love to know your results. Curious how much optimization I can get out of mine (shipping currently)

I finally have one of these as of a few days ago.

It came with an SSD in the main slot, but I want to go with an SSD in the WWAN slot and a big HDD in the 2.5" slot instead. However, it seems that you need some kind of bracket as well as a cable to put a mechanical 2.5" disk in the slot, which were not included with mine. Where can I get these? What are they even called, how should I search for them? Are they standard parts, or Dell-specific, or model-specific? I've tried googling and asked in a few local shops, and found nothing so far...

(I'm also having some Linux driver issues with the GPU and touchpad, but figure these will be resolved with time.)

They're Dell-specific. Technical support can give you the part numbers; they may also be mentioned up-thread.

What Linux distribution are you running, and what are the issues with the GPU and touchpad? The GPU is flawless on mine, and I've had no trouble with the touchpad (although I'm the antithesis of a power user there, so I can't say it's "flawless" -- I don't use any of the gestures or multitouch to know if those work or not.)
