Thanks for the quick reply. I had the same settings in BIOS. Also I updated bios today and still couldn't see the ssd.
Apparently, I had to create a partition on it! Now I can see it.

Does the SSD come with a screw or do I need to get one myself from God knows where?

 

The screw is most likely M2 x 3.

You can buy from specialist suppliers or ebay. Some years ago I bought one of the laptop screw multi-packs which only cost a few $$$ on ebay and provide more than a lifetime supply of spare screws and cost no more than getting a few screws from a specialist supplier.

Does anyone know anything about the FHD touchscreen option? Are there any reviews (haven't found any)? Is there any info on how much it adds to the width & weight? Do we know what model number it is (so I can at least google that)?

 

Isn't this review of the FHD touchscreen version? The comments are favourable although it doesn't mention the screen model. However, Dell usually have two sources of parts (the non-touch panels are probably the same AUO and LG options used on the E7450) so there can be slight differences.

The technical specifications in the E7470's owner's manual shows that the touchscreen adds about 1.3mm to the thickness but doesn't indicate the effect on the weight.

I don't think so, but even if it is they don't say very much about it.

And that's in line with what I had found earlier for the E7450, which is that it adds 1.2mm and 0.16kg. But on the E5440, it adds 3.6mm. I wasn't able to find information about how much weight it adds for the E5440, nor size or weight information for any other model. But based on just these morsels of information, it doesn't seem inconceivable that it might add more to the E5470 than to the E7470. I wish they'd be more forthcoming about this kind of thing... it wasn't any trouble to find this information for HP's Elitebooks.

And I'm not sure if it's even relevant for me any more... I was looking at an attractive refurbished model at the UK Outlet but it turns out they only ship in the UK. (And there's no such thing as a Hungarian Outlet. Naturally.) Every time I find a laptop I think I want to buy, it turns out it doesn't ship to Hungary. Most frustrating thing ever.

Just a heads up, e5470 is showing up on us Dell outlet site

I spy a scratch&dent i7 6820hq + 1080p matte (500GB, 8GB, 1 yr inhome on-site) for $1059 pretax. They have ten units (s&d $1059, refurbish $1099, new $1129)

There is an option for reseller-only 15/27/39/51/63 month mail in warranty (+$187 for 63 month warranty), don't think I've seen it before

It's roughly $100 cheaper that what I bought new if I choose the same config (5yr mailing warranty). Definitely worth it if you don't need warranty at $1059. Sweeter with coupons (no coupons active for the business site right now)

 

The E5470 (and E5570) are also available at the Dell UK Outlet and include configurations that aren't normally offered. (I grabbed an E5570 for about half of what it would cost if I could order it new to the same specs).

I noticed that, since I bought my E7450 at the UK Outlet last August, Dell have changed the included on-site warranty on Latitudes from 3 years to 1 year. However, the cost of increasing the warranty to 3 years is reasonable.

Hi Guys, I just put in an order for an e5470. Pretty pumped for it.

What kind of battery life are you guys getting? Is 10 hrs real world usage a reality?
