I have only a 3350, but they are almost identical. The main differences are:

    • 3350 has a DVD drive
    • 3350 has a better cooling system and has better temperaterues (due to it's in a bigger case)
    • tho it's more weighty

Basically they are the same, V131 is a lighter version of the 3350.

The 3350 has a matt display yes, and I'm 99% sure the V131 has the same as well. Battery life (config in my sig) is kinda amazing, with the stock 4 cell battery, I get approx. 3-4 hours while working (Netbeans, browsers, Skype), with 50% brightness, backlit keyboard on. It's kinda amazing!

What was the deal breaker for me between this and the V131 is that this has better screen (better quaility I mean), and much better cooling system. I max the processor speed at 60%, it's still amazing fast and the fan hardly kicks in, stays silent even when watching HD in youtube, or 720p in VLC (haven't tried 1080p yet).

I noticed that the predecessor v13 was/is quite popular with its owners, despite a fairly humble cpu.

I noticed just doing some light digging that there are a number of aftermarket batteries - wondering if any of them give this little unit a boost in life. for the need I have in mind 6-8 hours would be so much better - a slam dunk actually

That, and terrible battery life. I still have my Latitude 13 (basically same thing) and only get around 3 hours.

I have 2 of them. One with the Celeron CPU and the other with the SU7300. I absolutely luv them. :)

Here is a picture of the SSD Dell originally builds into the V131 if you order it with SSD.
It is an OEM Samsung 470 (PM810). It is NOT recognized by Samsungs SSD-software "Magican".

I've got my V131 a week ago and I'm very happy with it. 10+ hours without recharging, good keyboard, fast CPU.
And although DELL doesnt mention it (at least i couldn't find a hint on the website), the V131 is also equiped with a GPS-Reciever. I guess it is part of the WWAN module. The GPS sensitivity is excellent, as you can see i got 8 satellites locked, sitting right in my living room.
