Well I'm glad to hear it's a 200 MHz boost because I can use every bit of speed I can possibly get.

and they did come and replace my keyboard today. The new one doesn't squeak… At least not yet :)

yes my config came to about $5000, but there was some small-business discount so I paid closer to 3500

Well, again there's always a catch.... The 3.8GHz quoted Turbo speed is with one core, an less when multiple cores are used. Not sure how this works with virtualization however.

well, my replacement keyboard did not fix the problem. I am still getting double letters frequently, and the space bar has begun to develop that annoying squeak after just a couple of days. so I'm guessing it's not that I had a bad part; it's a design/engineering problem.

unfortunately that means I'll probably return the laptop, which I otherwise love but this seems an unacceptable defect for a $5000 machine :-(

Sorry to hear that. I have been mostly satisfied with the keyboard on mine. I remember a very light squeaking on my space bar at first, but I don't notice it now if it's even still there. The main keyboard feels solid enough to me. I have been able to compare with the new Surface Book on a regular basis since I bought my wife one, and I definitely prefer the 5510. I can be using the Surface Book and then immediately switch to the 5510 and there is a noticeable difference in the ease of typing.

Mostly a moot point for me though as I dock my 5510 in and use a full external keyboard and mouse.

I am very interested to hear more about your Surface Book comparison as that is the other machine I was considering. I went with the 5510 for the horsepower, but as a Surface aficionado I sure miss being able to rip off the screen and use it in portrait mode. surprised to hear that the Surface Book is worse for typing as I actually prefer typing on my Surface Pro 4 keyboard to the 5510 - more key travel, better layout, dedicated home/end/pgup/pgdn keys...

def hoping I just have a bad unit w/r/t double keeys. would hate to return this rocketship! soo nice having 45W quad-core processor

I'll add in one more opinion here. The Dell XPS 15 keyboard is pretty decent, but I actually like the Surface Book one better from a quality perspective. It reminds me of MacBook Pro quality, at least on the units I've tried. The thing that bothers me on the Surface Book is that it is missing the right control key which is a very Mac-like thing as well. I also really don't like the fact that neither the XPS 15 nor the Surface Book have dedicated Home/PgDn/PgUp/End keys, but that's really more of a comparison point to the ZBook Studio. That machine ships in a week and a half, and I'm really looking forward to hearing keyboard reviews there.

I wish there were perfect notebook options in the WIndows world.

Can I connect the Dell Precision 5510 to 220V outlet?
How to find power cable (or power adapter) for Europe for this laptop (US and EU power plugs are different)?

These come with three wire plugs, then you need to consider which country you are going to. UK is entirly different, Switzerland and Italy have both different three wire plugs etc...
I would recommend this kind of adapter:

It doesn't give you earth, but in my opinion you don't need that for this equipment. It will support all of Europe except UK.

Well what's perfect for one may not be so for another. Dedicated Home/End keys are nice but not in the standard location anyway so that would take getting used to. I think Dell's solution is actuallyeasier for the most part, I can do it without looking. Also the HPs arrow keys are atrocious.
