Did your new panel come with that cable? Can you not just re-use the came cable you were using before? That's what I have always done.
(That looks like a webcam connector to me.)

The cable from the m6800 panel does not fit this new panel......this is twice in a row ebay sellers have screwed me over....th first panel would not perform at 60 hz and this one is not what it was sold to me as ......I will likely just give up on the machine as I can't even find an honest seller for the screen .......

The cable is not compatible with the M6800.Could you just get the lcd panel off the bezel and install it over the broken one?
To get the LCD panel alone should not be very complicated.I think it is your only option....that or returning the panel.

Then clearly the panel is not the right one.
You could try to buy the LVDS cable for the M6800 and try it.
    Did you consider that?
The cable is like this one.[IMG]

It's sad since these machines are getting old. I wanted to replace the 1080p LVDS panel in my M6700 just a few months ago because my LG panel got some dust or something stuck behind the front layer. The only panel that I could find was a AUO B173HW02 (it looks like this is the only 17.3" 1080p LVDS panel that is still being manufactured). This one, it looks like it is still for sale.

I did not have a problem installing it but I did not like it, it was much lower quality than the LG that I was replacing... Worse viewing angle, "gridlines" visible, and terrible blacks especially near the top of the panel. I was looking again at eBay just now and there are basically no options. I guess someone could purchase a whole system used just to take the panel out...

Anyway, I gave the LG panel a series of good thwacks and got the dust to move out of the visible area so I am still happily using it. Need to get another 2 years or so out of it before I'm upgrading laptops...

I'm sure I'll try again once I get over my rage....this thing has a perfectly working p5000 in it (I tested the repair on an external screen)......... just right now I'm incredibly angry at sellers who have no idea what they are actually selling......

i put a p3000 in mine along with a half decent chimei panel in and im only in it for around 500. way less than a newer system, and i got to tinker with it. even has 32gb of ram. and an i7. all in all a decent gaming laptop. although i do have the older lvds display and because of that i have to use optimus for graphics but with overclocked intel graphics it seems to work just fine.

i am planning on putting a rx 480 mobile in my m6800. i have the card, just waiting on an x-bracket from china. my friend who also owns a m6800 told me it will work (apparently it just doesnt have working fan control so you have to use some other program to control the fans) so fingers crossed i guess.

Hi, does someone here got an GTX 1070 mxm laying around ?
I would like to try if a slightly modified P5000 vbios would work with the 1070 in the M6700 or M6800 :)
