I'm not familiar with the Tesla line, but I looked it up, and it looks like the M6 has the same specs, form factor, and layout as the GeForce 980M and Quadro M5000M. You can look for upgrade stories using those cards, both will work in the M6800. (I think that there are two variants of the NVIDIA GPU heatsink for the M6800, and things will go better for you if you have the more "flat" one, as the other one has a bit that sticks out and obstructs one of the chips on the Maxwell GPU. The two heatsinks have the same part number, so you have to take your system apart to see which one you have...)

Note that generally using a Dell vBIOS is recommended for GPU upgrades in the Precision. Typically you can take a card from any vendor and flash it with a Dell vBIOS. I'm not sure if you'll be able to find a Dell vBIOS for the Tesla M6. HP vBIOS usually do not work so well, it seems like on HP systems there is some important stuff in the system BIOS that is required to get the card to work.

Super.....I will try to do it,and I will report back if is of any help to others.
Let's see if I am clever enough to flash the Bios properly.
Would not be enough to get a Vbios from a dell gtx980m and flash it onto the M6?

I'm pretty sure you can't cross-flash between the GeForce and Quadro lines (i.e. flash a GeForce vBIOS onto a Quadro card or vice-versa) so I would not expect to be able to do it with the Tesla either.
Still, if you don't have to pay for the card, you have nothing to lose really, you can try it and let us know how it goes... :p

[Edit] Make sure that you have graphics switching turned *on* in the system BIOS before swapping GPUs. This way, when you boot up, the Intel GPU will be running everything, and you will actually be able to see if you can flash the vBIOS or get a driver loaded for the Tesla card.

I am attaching my Quadro M5000M Dell vBIOS (might be helpful if it will flash on).
nvflash is the command-line tool that can flash the vBIOS. You may have to use one of its options to "force" the flash, it won't want to do it because the card IDs will be different. Be sure to back up whatever vBIOS comes on the card before overwriting it. (This can be done with nvflash or GPU-Z.) If things go south after flashing a different card's vBIOS on the card, then you should be able to flash the original one back on there.

Sweet....Thanks a lot for your help.
I have tons of work ahead, but as soon as I have a bit of time I will try it.
Do you have the same performance with your M5000M as the GTX980m?
    Thanks once more

M5000M and 980M performance is the same for gaming. M5000M performance is better for certain professional applications.

I just got the M6 card today. My first problem has been to fit the spring loaded screws from the Heatsink into the X-bracket.
Now my question is,may I get to replace the spring-loaded screws with new ones that fit the x-bracket?.If doable...is it an easy task?
Where can I source the screws from?

Id say hit some of your local tech shops. Or search ebay. I live in China, so I would check taobao. What is the m6 card? I am sitting now with a 7710 on my desk with the 4k screen. Really would like to try to make it work in my 6800.
