M6800 Owners' Thread

The photo's a bit unclear, but... Is the darkness under the lifted contacts, some sort of scorch-mark / burnt area?

If those are DisplayPort pins, chances are they are for the external ePort dock DisplayPort connectors, so it won't make a difference if you are not using that capability. That's assuming that there is no other damage. The only way to find out is to try using it...

I think that you will want to fully remove the damaged connectors, if you don't there's a chance that they could be touching each other after you insert the card and cause some kind of short.

Actually, I suppose there's an off chance that if there is unidentified damage, using the attempting to use card could cause some kind of damage to your motherboard. Careful.

Glad you took a photo before you inserted it into the system. You should definitely get your money back if it does not work to your satisfaction.

 

The soldermask discoloration (blue -> orange-brown) would also indicate some sort of localized thermal event having happened there, so... It's iffy, at best.

 

Hello everyone.
I have a dell m6800 with Amd m6100 vga, and i have a problem with it. When i connected to external monitor via HDMI port, my laptop did not detect external monitor. I have tried 3 different monitor but all of were not detected by my m6800.
My laptop is using window 10.
Could anyone can give me some point for this problem i would appreciate it

 

That sometimes happens with my M4800 / m5100 and my TV. What i've noticed is that it helps if i turn the TV on, before plugging the HDMI cable into the laptop.

 

Can you try DisplayPort or VGA as well?

I had trouble with the FirePro to show only pixel blocks on external monitors. That could be partly solved by installing older FirePro and Intel drivers for Windows 8.1 and block newer drivers from Windows Update which would always overwrite older drivers.

I ended up changing to nvidia - luckily a warranty exchange.

 

I have tried as your instruction, but it did not work. I don't know what wrong with firepro m6100, when i uninstall Firepro m6100 and used only intel HD4600, the connection with external monitor is work perfectly

 

I think in the future when buying new laptop, i don't go with AMD again, their gpus have many problem.

 

has anyone gotten DDR-3L 2400 ram to work in their m6800? I have a 4940mx w/ m3000m .. I know I can do the kingston 2133... but I heard that 2400 ram is out there... are there any faster that will work withh my 6800? I heard I can get a 4k panel to work in my EDP motherboard... stay tuned its the next project....
