Why does dell make it so hard to download drivers. Their ftp fails half the time, the download manager NEVER works.

On another note, where is my windows 7 sticker with the activation key? Did they really think I wouldn't be doing a clean install?

True; I do have mine in an external caddy since I like having the burner available for other systems.

    Scott-

Just found this decent deal on FleaBay for a UJ242: http://cgi.ebay.com/Dell-Latitude-E...C_Drives_Storage_Internal&hash=item4cf8f45beb

I don't use the manager. Never have issues with the FTP unless our network is slow.

Sticker is under the battery in the M6600.

My M6600 is on order, expected next week. First Dell in 10 years. Do they include windows media with it? And does it come crudded up with bloatware that makes a re-install worthwhile? Thought maybe that wouldn't be the case on a professional workstation.

    Thanks, Matt

Is anyone with a M8900 also experiencing heating issues?

My card's temps are rising up to 90c in an air conditioned environment. They generally rise up to 80-85c easily. I hope it's not much of a concern but it sure is worrying me.

    Hello,

Did anyone experienced any issues with OCZ Vertex 3 on the Original M4600 Windows 7 Pro x64 installation?

I have restored the HDD image on the SSD using Acronis and it seems that the system stops responding from time to time, having the HDD led flashing continuously.

I have several restore attempts but it keeps blocking out randomly.

Every driver was from stock installation and SATA is configured in AHCI mode in BIOS.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

On my currently dead unit I maxed it out to 81C with 800/1000 via TriXX. Then again, I ran it with an incline since I had a dock. You might want to call Dell up to get that GPU repasted again. If not, you can try to do it on your own with your own TIM.

Actually without any software OC tweaking, the GPU still maxed out for me at 81C interestingly enough but in either conditions, the card was super stable.

I don't believe it comes with media. Mine certainly didn't. But I remember the "Nomedia" as being the only option when selecting the OS when configuring. I have a Win7 ultimate disc already though, so I didn't mind much.

You may be able to request one from Dell.

I don't know about the bloatware. I booted once and reinstalled immediately - habit I guess. I did notice some Roxio icon on the desktop, but I'm not sure what else was there.

If you look further down on the website you will see an option to include media. I'm working to move that up, right below the OS section.
