    Hi Bokeh,

I've logged a support call with Dell, and according to their 1st line support at least they're happy to arrange for this LG panel to be replace with the AUO version.

Before I lock it in though (some of the engineer stories on this forum have me a bit worried) would it be OK to ask you to post the gamut/whitepoint analysis /info results (e.g. "Gamut" and "Whitepoint at different OSD settings" from "Advanced Analysis", and "View Info" from "Profile Overview" as output by the Spyder3Elite 4.0.2 software?

If it all looks good I'll tee up the replacement (assuming their Dell's 1st line support haven't got it wrong), cross my fingers, and post the results.

Thanks again for your help to date working this out....

    Cheers,

    J

    Hehe... no probs.

Review is excellent BTW, lots of folks will really appreciate it.

The AUO panel seems to have *significantly* better sRGB gamut coverage even when calibrated to 6500K ( compare to the results I got at 6500K and native here )

Just one extra query regarding the black level - I'm guessing your review results are at a significantly greater panel brightness setting? To push my luck.. any chance you could confirm the black level at a target brightness of 120cd/m2?

    Thanks heaps again,

    J

I can also confirm it is definitely your hard drive. I ordered my M6600 with one 128 GB SSD. It was quiet as a mouse. I couldn't even tell when it was on. A week later my second WD Scorpio Black 750 GB HDD arrived from Newegg.

I installed the new hard drive and sure enough, clicks every 5 to 10 seconds. It does it now as I type. :(

Problem is, the M6600 fans and SSD are so quiet that makes the clicks very audible.

Guess i'me lucky, i have also the 750Gb Scorpio Black installed and it's absolutely quiet.
So i'm the only one who has not the "clicky" problem with any of 3 WD Scorpio Black (320Gb and 750Gb) hard disks?

Maybe it's the power management options? I'm on "ultra performance", which power plan are you using?

    Hello everybody,

I have just received my M6600 yesterday and I am currently a bit lost with the M8900 firepro driver.

Could you tell me which driver you use (Wired360 or starforge) and which driver is the best?
I have tried dell drivers and the 11_5b CCC driver previously presented but I have a low score on 3Dmark 2011 : P2386 with 2189 as graphic score, 6620 as physics score and 1862 as combined score (Best score obtained with 11_5b drivers with AC adaptator plugged in) which is very far from the one obtained by wired360 with non OC M8900 on page 85.

Thank you very much for your help in advance.
    Tompouce

Just requesting again, can somebody run specviewperf 11 on their 8900 or the quadro 3000? This is to gauge how good the card is for professional work. The download is free! Thanks!

Me too. The Ultra Mode. I am using mine as I speak for Distributive Rendering. Even with the Ultra Mode, the fans are hard to hear and it runs pretty hot, about 83C (this is 100% CPU). Both of my desktops that are overclocked over i980X 4GHz are cooler.

I also remembered I have the same HD in my MacBook Pro running Bootcamp. It is fine, though after a diagnostic, it seems the 320 Scorpio may have been bad. I replaced it with the 500GB that came with it and running again.

    I'l know soon.

Well, desktop temps are another story, compared to notebooks.
    However 83 °C looks very hot ...

Can you elaborate more about the diagnostics and/or your findings about the "bad" 320 Scorpio?

I will. I have the Quadro 4000M though. That is a big download for the test.
