Yes but the cheaper FirePro M8900 is better significantly than a 460M.

too bad .....it makes me think if i should get the q3000m instead of 8900 .....im a animation student and also a gamer would require atleast 2-3 hrs of battery life ........what do u recommend ?i will mainly be working with maya , CS5 ,nuke and so on.....

One simple answer: Price vs. Performance.

If it is worth the high price tag for the 3000M that it is worth the practicality of 1-2 additional battery life hours, then go for it. If is not, go for the M8900.

For me, I got mine as a replacement exchange, so I can't complain. (Well I can since the technician today just broke it while upgrading my palmrest to a deserved and expected swipe fingerprint scanner...)

oh...for me it will depend on how well the 3000m will perform while gaming ........can anyone with a 3000m let me know about its gaming performance ??

It is on par with the 460M for sure but the Quadros drivers might hinder a bit of your FPS than if used the a pure GeForce. Also, the price Dell is offering the 3000M is a bit steep for pretty much sub-Radeon 5870M performance in my honest opinion.

You can try to push it up with overclocking but of course that is not for everyone and yeah if the price is worth the battery life and CUDA, go for it!

    Star Forge,

How is the sound quality from 6600? No reviews yet with detailed analyses.Any idea if the screen is equal to alienware m17x r3 quality?...I have the system mentioned in my signature..It is being replaced with a whole new replacement which I am yet to agree and be sent for production. I do a lot of work with video and photography..Gaming is nice..but its not priority..I want a machine that is not sluggish when editing HD movies etc..

Do you mind giving me you suggestion as to which machine and specification I should push for ?

The weight factor also come to my mind after the experience I have had with my current system, especially travelling. Its a tad to heavy to move around with. So i am wondering if I should take advantage of this replacement process and give the alienware M17x R3 a skip.
    Thank You.
