definitely thinner , only down fall seems the battery life .. would be good if the 8900 can pull of 3 hours under light usage at lowest brightness......and how is the weight of the laptop ?

Yup, 3hrs might be possible but would be difficult to obtain without optimus. Right now that's making me a bit jealous of the quadro guys out there.

And it's heavy. After lifting it around for a few minutes my acer felt like a feather to me.

certainly will but not too much i guess. btw how did you know which one was it.

P.S. - can 97wh be opted for? I think it comes with only the xm processors.

The 87whr and 97whr batteries are options. The 97whr battery lasts longer at a time. The 87whr last longer in years.

and yes, 10whr will matter. If your pulling 20 watts thats 30 minutes.

Also, my very NON optimized real world SPECviewperf scores with the Quadro 4000M.

Well, that would depend on if you can get a "free" replacement.

At the office, we had a whole whack of Latitude D-series batteries go bad after almost exactly 1 year even though we have a 3 year site contract. It seems to be a very common trend among laptops in general these days to force you to buy a new battery. (that, or they had a battery manufacturer pull a fast one and they decided to pass the buck) These things are supposed to last at least 2-3 years, not *one*...

Though admittedly, the price difference for the 87WHr 3yr vs the 97WHr 1yr + extended warranty comes almost to the same thing price-wise...

With Optimus disabled (performance reasons), I'm getting at least 3 hours with the Quadro 3000.

I am getting occasional restarts now. Nothing much in my event logs that is very telling. Not sure if it's memory, ssd, drivers or other yet. The Vertex 3 issues were supposed to be freezing, BSOD's and "stuttering". I haven't had those yet.

When it does reset it seems to turn off Optimus every time and then the GPU isn't recognized when it gets back into windows and my screen rez is smaller.

Does anyone know how to get into the actual Bios? When I try to get into what looks like the old school bios it's asking for a password that I never setup. I want to be able to check my memory voltages and timings.

I will prob run Memtest overnight tonight.
