M6600 Owners Thread

It dosent, you need Ivy Bridge gen notebook to work with 1.35V memory.

 

Umm DDRL3 so-dimms should automatically work as usual DDR3 so-dimms. Just saying. It's just that it will be at higher voltage, instead of 1.35v it will be at 1.5v.

Anyways - im looking for a way to get 970M's to work on the M6600, anyone have any luck ?

 

Regarding the 970m, have you tried it already with M6600? What is the outcome? Any error message prompted?

 

No Luck, I know people have modified other M6000 series and gotten cards white listed or whatever its called, and had them work.

 

Okay guys, hard to find consistent info in this thread (i have been searching) and i do have a few questions.

1. Ordered a k4000m for my m6600 since my m8900 of 3 years has finally died. From what i understand, i don't need to change heatsinks even though im switching card manufacturers. If that is the case, then why are there two different part numbers when i search ebay for "dell m6600 heatsink", those being 7JMFV (AMD) and 12GDW (Nvidia) respectively.

2. How thick should the thermal pads be when i order? While the current thermal pads are still rather sticky and haven't dried up, they are three years old, figure i might as well just change them while i have the machine opened.

I need help i have M6100 with moded vbios, but when i am playing, i have not stable clock as i set.

 

Software OC do not work, you have to flash the clock you want. even then the clock still fluctuate, just at a higher range.

 

Yes i know, but my question is about set stable clock. When i have m8900 i have 3 frequency 150, 400, 680 and everything works. On M6100 i am between 300 and 1150 but without control some software.

 

Dont bother with software oc on m6100 it just wont work, or even if it doea (in my case with old version of sapphire trixx) machine will crash/bsod.

Only way to get higher and more stabile oc/higher clocks is to flash another vbios. Just make aure you back up your old one. Even then clocks will fluctuate, but alot less.

Im running undervolted bios with stock clocks and clocks rarely dip under 1050 while card is running cooler and fan quieter.

@guy with pending nvidia upgrade.
AMDheatsink will work, difference in p/n is due to different thermal pad placement.

Look into Alienware topics for pictures of which elements need to have thermal pads on them and then make sure you cover it all. As for height there should be also some pictures of quadro cards dismounted in one of the M6600 topics. Regardless of that, just make sure all thermal pads are pressed against the cooler and gpu is not bending. I used thermalgreese, and if it left it shape on the cooler it was good.

Whenever i tried m6600 with ddr3l sodimms from m6800 it would not boot and no i did not mix sodimms of ddr3 and ddr3L.

Hi, I would like to replace the thermal pad on my k5000m, can some one advise me what is the thickness of the thermal pad I should apply in red, green & yellow region below? I used the original Nvidia heatsink. Thanks.
