The m6700 have 3d option, but the m6600 don't. so it may or may not work ~~

I have bought an external Adata disk with USB 3.0 connectivity, but have nothing but frustration with it. Out of 10, 9 times it will connect in the 2.0 mode (with windows giving me a very wise advise that it could perform faster, blah blah blah). I do have an USB 3.0 Patriot 32GB pen drive, and this bugger always connects using 3.0 no matter which of the 2 ports I stick it in... So the M6600 does work OK in USB 3.0 mode, but I'm unsure whether the Adata drive or simply its cable is to blame... The cable connects poorly, and sometimes it's enough to touch it for the drive to disconnect. It also only works with the port near me - never with the one closer to the eSATA port. Would it be just a defective cable?

I've experienced similar problems with loose USB3 cables so I suggest changing it.

Worst case scenario, though, it's the connector on the drive's box. Incidentally, my Adata 1TB USB3 disk is very well built and the connector is quite sturdy.

Yeah, the USB connector is loose in my M6600 ports for sure. However, I have opposite impression re: the other end of the cable: there is what I suspect to be a proprietary ADATA connector into the disk, which isn't firm either :(. Nevertheless, I never touch it so the possibility that it's the disk connector which loses contact is low...

Does USB 3.0 cables to be so short? The one that came with my Adata HD710 drive is some 25 cm only...

But all this is not about the Precision M6600 and thus OT; let me ask you guys some more relevant questions:

    1. Why do some USB 3.0 devices connect properly in ANY of the two USB 3.0 (blue) ports, and others - only in the first one (from the front)?

    2. Why - when I have an USB 2.0 i one of the left-hand side ports - my M6600 will not connect when I insert an USB 3.0 on the right-hand side, and vice-versa. I.e., with an USB 3.0 on the right (correctly recognized and working at 3.0 speed), when I insert another, USB 2.0 stick in any of the left-side ports the M6600 will not recognize them - but will if I stick the same device to the other (left) port on the right-hand side?

Sometime one(either one) of my usb3.0 port become not working from time to time, not sure why. I have a feeling it is some kind of power management? I haven't really dig into the issue since one of them will work.

The usb2.0 ports always work though.

Could it be that the USB 3.0 ADATA drive draws so much power from its USB 3.0 port that it disables power on the other side USB 2.0 ports?

I was stress testing usb ports the other day. I had adata s102 pro 32gb in usb 3.0 port transfering files. Other usb 3.0 had external hdd connected. On usb 2.0 port i was charging thiss cell phone and other one had my logitech unifying receiver in it. Everything was working flawlessly.

Anyone know what those devices with failed drivers could be?

No, but in Device Manager double-click the mysterious device, go to the Details tab, under Property select Hardware IDs, then look on the web for the device ID (the "DEV_xxxx" number).

Thanks, do you mean numbers like this: ClassGuid = {4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}? They are not unique....
