I forgot to include this about the newer DDPA and Control Vault Firmware.
Sorry, thought this might be important to know for some people in advance:

If you update to DDPA A09 you'll be required to update the firmware or it won't work. You'll receive a message stating that the FW must be updated to continue and will shutdown DDPA before it starts.

This may also be true for the Stand Alone Control Vault Driver A11 - I don't know.

    New Intel GPU Driver (A12) 4/19/2013: Win7-8_64_15.28.14_3040_Dell_setup_ZPE (Hard-Drive)

It'll be awhile before I have time to install it on the other machine. If you try it please let us know the outcome.

    Fixes & Enhancements:
    Updated driver for Precision T1600, T1650, M4600, M4700, M6600, M6700
    Fixes since driver A10 (9.17.10.2867)
    1) Addresses Windows 8 Issues seen using earlier versions of drivers
    2) Improved 3D stability
    3) Improved power management stability
    4) Improved dock/undock behavior, multi-monitor switching behavior
    5) Improved motion video (DVD, BD) playback stability
    ------------------------------

    There's also a new Bluetooth Driver (A07) 4/18/2013: Network_Driver_1G1GX_WN32_6.3_A07
However according to the release notes: "Resolves Dell Managed Update Package Utility issue."
That's probably all it does as an update, nothing else.

I've been running version 9.17.10.3071 (newer) from Intel without issue.

I'm not sure if it's a model specific issue but drivers I've gotten in the past from Intel won't allow the brightness control to function anywhere. Seems not to be a problem for the 6700's though.

Err, you're right. Thought I was on the M6700 thread. :p
(I saw the same driver you posted come through for the M6700 from Dell earlier yesterday or today.)

lol, I've almost done that before :)
I think I recall you fix M6600's at work.

    Anyway, while I'm at it:
Installed NVidia A05. Not having the best experience. Colors seem to have changed. Loading Premier Color then can't adjust anything from Drop Down Menus without 2,3,4 clicks. Uninstalled PColor, reinstalled Nvidia Driver and Premier Color - same problem.
Tried clicking update button within Premier Color and website has been updated and says there's a newer version (I think). Going to try it, I'll let you know.

    Update:

No luck with new Premier Color and it crashed IE and Win Explorer.
So uninstalled PColor and all NVidia components. Reinstalled previous NVidia R316049 and PColor A05. Problem still exists - I figure it was a windows update somewhere I didn't notice and the culprit might be IE10; Just a hunch and I have had some issues with IE10 not playing nice like IE9 did.

Along the way I got the PColor Drop Down boxes to cooperate by clicking the very edge of the field list value where a border (separator line) would be if not hidden. So must be some kind of control issue with windows. Haven't noticed it anywhere else though. Thing is that once PColor is setup it doesn't require much interaction.

Tomorrow I'll put back in the newer NVidia driver and have another test with it, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Flash, Chess Titans (the only game I play) etc.
Hopefully I wont get any pink screens.

^ Huh, well, sorry about those problems. Eeek. I'm tired of installing Intel driver updates only to break the screen brightness control. I think I'll wait for someone to let me know it's safe to upgrade this time. ;)

Come on DELL this is a PITA!!!

I'm reverting back to the older driver - it works good!!!

If you have an NVidia card and IPS RGB screen combo - this version of drivers works good:
    VIDEO_DRVR_WIN_R316049.EXE (A03)
    Premier_Color_1.02.032_Setup_ZPE.exe (A05)

The problem with the newer nVideo drivers is they DON'T play nice with Premier Color App. All kinds of aberrant and unacceptable behaviors are immediately apparent. Simply reverting the driver back to A03 eliminated all these issues. And it feels stable!!!

Opening a closed lid sets the display into Full RGB and is difficult to resume prior settings.
Sometimes logging off loses all graphics excepts cursor - a black screen.
Colors don't seem as they were before the update - more grayish or less bright.

The only thing I notice that is fixed from the last time I tried it is that closing the lid doesn't play the hardware disconnect sound. Ha!
