Don't use the previous posts driver with an optimus machine and expect photoshop to work, it won't - crashes.
Maybe the newer nVideo driver is ok with optimus, I don't know.
Intel GPU drivers from Intel have a history of not working with brightness control - use the latest or go to an earlier one - Intel version from Dell only.

I don't think they do much to these drivers in the sense of user experience - a lot of it is compatibility issues on differing hardware platforms. Find one that works good.

How many generations old dock can be used with M6600? There are few of older docks from core 2 duo era available for 20$ to me so i'm wondering if they can be reused? Or better to ask - when was the last time they changed dock connector and pin-out :)

Basically i need Ethernet, few usb ports and sound output for amp. So i dont have to plug everything every time i come home.

EDIT: After looking at ebay noticed that cheapset dock for me is PR02X - good thing is that ebay.de has few listed at 20e.

I installed the new Premier Colour and it also crashed IE and other stuff so exited and put it to not start when the system does. No ok, but of course it is not running.

All my other drivers - intel, NVidia etc - are the latest available from them direct.

Was never impressed with Premier Colour to begin with, now even less so. You would think Dell could find a better company to work with than that.

    Slim,
    Thanks for the feedback.
I'll be reverting back to the previous soon. Just wanted to see if I could find anything to tweak with the latest to make it behave.
Half the time I don't run premier color, but I close the lid often. When I do this it puts it in Full RGB on open and I have to run Premier to stop it.
It's kind of too annoying. I don't think the problem is with premier though, I think it might be that Dell can tweak something in NVidia since the older driver doesn't have this problem.

Also, for me it isn't a problem to go backwards as NVidia R316049 is perfectly fine and runs everything that I have very well. It's the effort required to install and test that gets me weary. It's as if maybe the person(s) over there that prepares and tests these things isn't there anymore or something.

Funny isn't it that you seem to think it may be to do with a nVidia driver and I seem to think it is purely down to Premier Colour. I have no evidence, nor have I done any research but I just think that because nVidia updates their drivers so often, then perhaps more research goes into them. Whereas Premier Colour hardly ever update and even when they do I could not notice any difference, apart from the fact IE, and some other programmes, just started crashing. Even turned it on and off to see if that would help. Now I have it off and am very wary of turning it on again.

Where did you get the old Premier Colour from?

Incidentally I am running nVidia 311.50 and intel 9.17.10.3062.

    Good luck!

Premier Color from Dell ver A05. Driver Details | Dell US

I think they improved the driver scene for the M6700. Things are a little trickier for us. On my other one (WLED w/ Optimus) I'm going to try your version driver from NVidia with the most recent Intel HD Video a little later this month. I gave NVidia's 311.50 a try here on RGB display - exact same issue I was having with the latest from Dell. Actually think they are in sync now with that.

The driver when lid closes doesn't remember the last profile it was using. Since Premier isn't running at startup - I have to rule it out as a contributing factor. That and the other NVidia driver doesn't have this issue.

After using Windows for nearly 24 years: I blame Microsoft for everything :)

Edit: Nope not in sync: Dell's 311.10, NVidia's 311.50. Close.

Interesting that Dell is at 311.10.

    nVidia's updates went:

    310.70
    310.90
    311.35
    311.50

Also FYI, I am on Premier Color 1.03

Could you check something for me?

Under application color tab - try to move one of the settings for a program from say sRGB to Full. Or if you don't have RGBLED change between the first two settings in the list. I don't think they're available for WLED though.

Mine are stuck, i.e., I can move out from them but not into them. Example ordered drop down list: Off, Full, sRGB, Rec. 709, Adobe RGB.

My device manager has the driver properties at 9.8.13.1150 so maybe that translates to 311.50 but the Dell Support WebInfo says 311.10

They sure need to fix this stuff.

You got PC from Portrait Displays or Dell from somewhere else other than M6600?

I bought my M6600 direct from Dell, and right now my other laptops are not with me.

I am not seeing any of those options you mention under color management advanced settings. I do not have an IPS monitor, mine is the AUO159D which from memory is WLED.

From Device Manager my nVidia driver under Display Adapters is 9.8.13.1150 (6/4/2013), same as you. I know I installed 311.50 just a few days ago (18/4/2013) after downloading it from nVidia's website.

Intel is 9.17.10.3062 (8/3/2013). This was also updated just a few days ago via intel's site.

    Sorry, mangled that sentence.

You got the premier color 1.03 from the portrait display website or from Dell ?

I tried the one from portrait displays, that I think caused the crashes. But it may work better for the M6700.

    Edit:

    Slim,

I can't remember which one of NVidia I installed last, whether From Dell or NVidia. I was trying the different combinations of graphics and premier.

I have to take some time away today to get the new SSD installed and reimaged.

Curious that you're using an Intel site graphics and can change the brightness using Fn + up down arrows.
