    WaNaWe900,

With my RGB-LED, drivers from nVidia have given me pink screens with FlashPlayer and running Win Chess Titans. So I don't use them anymore. This is the best driver I've used: Driver Details | Dell US
Caution though, on Optimus machines it has a problem with Adobe Photoshop and OpenGL. Crashes PS.

Here's a couple things you could try, in order:
open services.msc: go to Windows Search: right click and stop
Windows Explorer: go to C:\Windows\Panther and rename setup.etl to setup.old
If you're using MS Security Essentials go to SystemRoot \ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Security Client\Support and delete EppOobe.etl (it will recreate itself)
Just reboot. Search will restart then.

Edit: Forgot: turn off Anti-Virus Real Time Protection before making those changes.

WaNaWe900: Oh and turn off Anti-Virus Real Time Protection before making those changes.

If anyone is experiencing the occassional/often blank screen resuming from standby or boot up - - I replaced the wireless network driver with Network_Driver_YYDDV_WN_15.03.1000.1637_A03.EXE
The problem seems to have gone away. Over 1.5 weeks without incident.

Oh Dell - cancel and retry.

Seems they're really trying to improve things over there recently. Amazing what employees will do to keep their jobs after Dell announced going private.

Have a weird issue and i am not sure if it windows 8 or not.

I make a portable bootable win8 SSD, that boot in every machine(legacy win7) around the house. But my m6600 (legacy win8) will never read the existence of drive in boot menu, no matter usb 2.0 or 3.0 port.

The boot I referring to is boot device using bios, not windows boot menu.

    Baiii,

I'm sure you're aware that the QM67 chipset doesn't support usb 3.0 natively at boot time. It can be loaded only for recovery that I know of.

As for usb 2.0 you should be able to boot from them unless something else is required that you're not aware of. I don't have win8.

I assume you are using F12 to get the boot menu and can't get it to load your device.
You could try tapping F8 repeatedly just before bios ends and until the recovery menu comes up. Then choose recovery and load usb 3.0 drivers there. Not very efficient but for test purposes.

The right side of the laptop, in the area of the removable bay - I have a samsung ssd installed - tends to get very warm. Is there any reason for alarm? Like is the gpu close by to justify the extra heat? I never opened the laptop to see the internal layout.

Just cleaned it, just need to remove palm rest. The fan is screwed on the heatsink so the heatsink do not need to be removed, pretty nice.
The right side bay does run warm, although I never swap drives around. My SSD usually run around 40-45C, but not high enough to concern about it.

My ssd doesn't even have a temperature sensor. But if it's normal that that side gets warmer it's ok by me also. Thanks.
