I think these are the options?

    UEFI or BIOS for boot

    AHCI or IDE for drives

    Hi Folks,

has anyone tried (with success) to turn on Windows 8 Pro/Enterprise Bitlocker on Dell Precision M6600?
I have two M6600. On both laptops, Windows 8 cant boot with activated Bitlocker.
No success with or without Bitlocker TPM. The device cant boot.
The latest Bios version is installed (A12).
(With Windows 7 Bitlocker the M6600 have no problems...)

    Can anyone reproduce this issue?

    Thanks

So was anyone able to figure out how to get the Broadcom USH / fingerprint reader working on the M6600 with Windows 8? I've been looking around and it seems like it just isn't working :(

Have you tried both the DellDataProtectionAccess package and/or Broadcom driver with W8 Biometric System?

    Just curious.

Edit: Nevermind. I looked through the drivers. Even Broadcom doesn't list with W8. Bummer :(

Nice... This worked for me on the M6700.

Well, I got it to let me log in once with my fingerprint but now it won't scan anymore. Maybe if I reboot, it will work again? I'll try later...

Cool. I really don't use my FPR anymore so I didn't bother with it but I don't like having a flag in my device manager. I may try it tonight. :)

    UPDATE:

I did it and it worked. I was able to log into Windows with the FPR. The Broadcomm enrollment isn't need and doesn't work so use the new FPR software.

Just another update. The new fingerprint software works great in Windows 8. It even has a Google Chrome plugin that installed automatically when I launched Chrome (probably has other browser plugins too) It will allow you to use your FPR to login to websites OR use a master password.

    Do this:
Then reboot you will have the option to enroll fingerprints on the login screen using the digitalpersona FPR software. Don't use the Broadcom FPR enrollement software, it will not work. Just remove the start screen tile and pretend its not even there!!

After I installed the fingerprint software mentioned above, I had issues with my machine hanging when I tried to enter "Sleep" mode. I uninstalled it and the problem went away...
