Well, based on some of the latest info I have, the number one suspect is the LG display panel itself and its onboard [voltage/dimming] controller; not anything Dell or Foxconn related. At this time, I cannot comment on if it is an LG design issue or not... But, I thought I was the only one until today experiencing this on every panel tested. It seems to be happening on the HP system side as well. I still love the M6600/6700 and the IPS is VERY nice to look at. However, it would be nice to isolate/address the issue in question even if it is not noticeable in all sound environments.

    FYI, IPS panel electrical squeal:
I had no idea what anyone was talking about so I tried mine on battery, definitely there on full brightness and diminishes when dimmed. Noise nonexistent on AC. I'm always plugged in and would have never known as the powersaving sets the brightness down.

I only wonder about the Optimus setting interfering in Abel's circumstance because of any adjustment that may be made during the build process. In other words, and I get what the bios does, that maybe it needs to be disabled one time. Just a thought.

Kingston is sending me out two new sticks memory, it's Hyper X 1600Mhz, 2 x 4GB. I didn't want to wait so I order another pair from Newegg too. Basically what I am getting to is if anyone need memory, let me know.

I was just reading about Windows 8 and was toying with upgrading my M6600 to the new system when I read this about upgrading: "If your PC is running Windows 7 Home Basic or Home Premium, your files, programs and settings will easily transfer to Windows 8. If your PC is running Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate, Windows XP or Windows Vista, you’ll need to reinstall your programs."

Well, there goes that idea! No way I am going to reinstall everything.

If you get Windows 8 Pro you can upgrade from Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate. Only Windows 8 (without the "Pro") requires a clean install from those systems.

I would do a clean - fresh install anyway.

I would not be so sure. This is what it says: "Running Windows 7, XP or Vista? Then Windows 8 Pro is for you. If your PC is running Windows 7 Home Basic or Home Premium, your files, programs and settings will easily transfer to Windows 8. If your PC is running Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate, Windows XP or Windows Vista, you’ll need to reinstall your programs."

That to me implies you can upgrade all those systems, but only upgrades from Windows 7 Home Basic or Home Premium will keep your files, programs and settings.

My M6600 will be staying with Windows 7 because of that.

I would be so sure, actually. I've performed such an upgrade (7 Ultimate -> 8 Pro) on two machines already, no trouble. It kept all of my stuff, including installed applications.

See the upgrade chart on Wikipedia, it is accurate:
