Alright so I'm getting the Samsung ssd for my boot drive yet I am unsure what to get for my data drive. I will be most likely installing steam and those programs that are entertainment like as we'll as my dev software backups. I saw many people using the wd black edition 750gb. How is this drive? Is there a difference in reliability and speed between this drive and the seagate? (Never really used seagate before). Also what is the largest notebook drive available? Also looking at a max budget of 80-100.

Dell ships them with one or the other (don't think you can specify).
I have both. My WD Black makes a sort of clinking sound and I'm not sure if it is normal or not but it still works good. The Seagate is good too and compared to the WD Black - quieter.
$80-$100 should cover it, getting it outside or even inside Dell - just don't include it in the build, DIY.

Edit: Size, as much as you can get in 2.5".

How much space do you need on the 2nd drive for day to day use? What I'm saying is why not just get 128GB SSD for the second drive, and for backup and stuff you dont need to access everyday get a larger USB external drive. SSD is so much better... no HD spin & noise, less power use, twice as fast. I will never go back to a mechanical drive! :D

I received my UJ-242 BD-RE drive today. Works great, Very happy! I had to swap my blank M6600 drive bezel to it and the rear screw mount off the TS-U633 drive. I had to slightly bend one edge of the bezel in a smidge to get it flush with the outside of the laptop. I could not find any Blu-Ray 9.5mm bezel's anywhere. I did find some DVDRW ones though for a buck.

1 TB drives are available nowadays. I'm using a 1 TB Seagate as my data drive. $100.

I'm getting ready to sell my M6600 and I was wondering if you guys might help me come up with a price. I've looked on ebay and some other sites but I have yet to find the price of one that actually sold with very similar specs than mine. I paid $2,400 on ebay (with warranty till 2014) at the beginning of the year and then upgraded RAM and Disk. Yes, it is a refurb.

    The specs:
    i7-2920xm
    32GB RAM
    256GB SSD
    750GB Hybrid Drive (8GB Cache)
    17" Multi-Touch w/ Stylus (Brooks 17 Stylus OEM)

So, My question is: What would you guys pay for this and where would you suggest I sell it? I picked this up as I was doing some freelance consulting earlier in the year and now that I am working directly for a consulting firm I no longer need it as they just gave me a brand new (used) Lenovo :(

Does the new dock that has the USB 3.0 ports (marketed for the M6700) work with the M6600?

Just reporting on my lock up issues mentioned in this thread about a week ago. updating the Intel rst drivers and the chip set drivers has seemingly fixed my lock up/ freeze issues. I also disabled lpm on ahci. I have still gotten a few bsod with kernel data inpage error #7a. This always occurs right at login. This happens randomly every few days. Not sure what to make of it.
