There is some flex especially if compared to regular desktop keyboard. I’ve attached a link to a video that might help you decide. VIDEO
Other than that it is a solid machine very happy with it. Some good upgrades from the M6400, M6500.

    Wow!

The keyboard flex really looks bad. It's so bad that I am actually thinking about cancelling my order (now expected to arrive 27 June 2011).

I've heard that the non-backlite keyboard is sturdier. Maybe I will just cancel my order and re-order one without a keyboard.

    Just, wow!

Thank you for that video. It's hard to tell since you can't really see how hard the key is pressed. The keyboard otherwise looks quite decent.

    Flex seems to be significant.
Question to those who received their builts already: Is it easy to dismantle the keyboard (or just simply lever it without disconnecting)?
If yes then it is probably easy to reduce the flex to zero. Usually, small piesces of rubber sticky tape can work wonders. If you stick them to the chassis they will be easy to remove (in case there is a need to service the machine by Dell).
I've seen that done to other laptops previously and that worked great.

Another question: someone previously mentioned that it ain't easy to replace the DVD drive. Can yous confirm? I've got BR drive waiting in my drawer, thought I will be able to use it in M6600.

    BTW:
I will better contact my rep in order to make sure it really is a backlit keyboard in my built - you have sown the seed of uncertainty ...

it only flexes like that when you put significant pressure on it. Not during normal typing.

Yeah, I don't understand the big deal about keyboard flex. When I type it doesn't flex at all; I guess some people have really heavy fingers...

i suppose people associate it with keyboards that feel mushy and have bad feedback.

Heh, I think you picked one of the few spots where you would see significant flex. In looking at the pictures in the M6600 manual the location where you are pressing the "H" key right next to the pointing device there seems to be hole underneath that location. I may be wrong in this, but it is what I can see from the pictures.
