Here is a .jpg, which shows the possible display configurations:

Remember, the vga-port has worse quality than the digital ports. and I'm not shure, if it can supply such a high resolution.

The nvidia cards are better for CAD-applications and other applications, which use CUDA-cores. If you don't have any applications using CUDA, I would recomend the AMD-card. Although, the AMD-card can handle more displays.

The attached pic above has one error. I made a typo on it, woops... The NVIDIA with Optimus and no dock only supports 3 max NOT 4. My bad.

After my order for Precision m4600 was cancelled (selected ATI FirePro video card with the IPS display), I am seriously considering ordering the m6600, which I could have for a better price with a better ATI video card. Minus, of course, the IPS display.
That's why I need to ask those of you who already received their systems, how good is the full HD display? I do some photo and video editing from time to time, and would be curious if this type of display could be used for that purpose occasionally?
How does it compare to the premium display of the Lenovo W520?
    Thank you in advance.

I know that it is fishy to try to buy a system off of someone on a forum. I want to thank the responses that I have gotten. I have gone ahead and listed my system on eBay. Dell M6600 Workstaion / Alienware | eBay

I think what is fishy is to call a Precision an Alienware! :)

Why it's the same company and parts? If anything a precision is better.

I did the same thing and called the next day to change it. I think the total price came out to $1 more and my delivery date wasn't changed. I could not find anything on the online configurator regarding the keyboard, so assumed they all must be the same (backlit) and only after placing the order then doing more reading did I notice 2 different descriptions online for the keyboard. That's so stupid. Why would they have the configuration tool select the non-backlit one by default and give no way to change it, when they clearly offer two?!

thats misleading. it is NOT an alienware. i know you're just trying to get more hits as not many people search for precisions, but it is still misleading. its not even a rebadged alienware. its a completely different laptop. albeit from the same parent company.

you might as well say vauxhall, chevy and cadillac are the same then.

    :eek2:

It is misleading indeed! And really, I don't even see how mislabeling the item can help the seller. Those searching for Alienware know exactly what Alienware is and would never fall for this cheap trick. Those looking for Precision, would never find it. And those few who are able to find it and are interested in buying this item, may be scared away by such an obvious misrepresentation. Personally, I would never buy anything from someone who intentionally mislabels the item on EBay. Who knows what other tricks to expect from such seller?!!

Nothing personal, umbralspace! I see you already corrected your listing. ;)
