Well I got my machine working again but get this!. If I install an OS drive in Sata_1 and another Sata drive in Sata_0 inder AHCI I cannot get into the Bios. when I used Sata Raid all was OK (other than reading external USB drives).
Now I have had to put the OS in Sata_0 and the 1TB backup drive in Sata_1 so that I can get back into the bios. This defeats the object of me actually buying this machine as the main attraction for me was to be able to hotswap one of the non_OS drives. I will have to try and get a SataIII USB hotswapping drive caddy if there is such a thing. Life can be a s*^% can't it.
I will contact Dell tomorrow as I cannot believe what I want is not acheivable with AHCI. Maybe a bios upgrade if that is the problem.

I had a problem building a PC with a X6 1090T on a gigabyte board and combining Sata II and Sata III drives on the same controller with AHCI. It just would not work. I had to put them on the separate sata controllers. I was told it would not be a problem.

I don't keep track of people whom I invited to "our" thread, but since you will have IPS display, let us know if you experience http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...sion/595496-m4600-ips-screen-corner-tint.html .
I don't know what nationality are you, but at least for English language version of Windows you can download it from:

Do your M6600 systems take up to a minute to shutdown? I am currently using the 500 7200 drive.

Information for (semi) professional audio types:

I'm sure by now everyone is familiar with juggling Firewire chipsets, onboard versus ExpressCard, etc.

Assuming that the O2 1394 controller in my machine would not be suitable, I purchased an LSI and TI chipset ExpressCard to use without even testing the onboard. I disabled it in BIOS. I haven't had a chance to test the TI card yet, but the LSI card would let my M-Audio ProFire 2626 disappear from the system with no warning, requiring a full power cycle and reboot to get it to reappear. Frustrated, I removed the ExpressCard and enabled the onboard in BIOS. I "updated" to the Legacy 1394 driver in Device Manager, and lo and behold, my interface works perfectly with 64 samples buffer size :)

    Hope this helps someone!

Everyone? Actually, I had no idea they made a firewire audio interface, or that many people still used firewire. That's what's good about the web, somebody knows something about what you need. Interesting reading up on it, by the way.

Are you using anti-virus software that is keeping the system active?

I am using AVG Internet Security. But I am running 3 vostros and 3 Asus and none of them seem to take as long to shutdown. I will have to do a proper conparison. Sometimes when a machine runs faster it looks like it takes longer to boot and shut down. I will put the SSD back in once I am happy I am not going to have any more agro.
