yea same here i want the backlit kb and the IPS, but i also want the non-offset touchpad and the lighter weight + extra battery life the W520 has, also if past dells are anything to go by, the W520 is going to be cooler too....dell also has far better support in the countries i travel to (UK, Malaysia, Singapore)

    decisions decisions..

LOL, I just ran back and grabbed my W520 from shipping. I'm going to hold on to it for as long as I can until I get some reviews on the M4600 I've decided. The thought of throwing a slice on the W520 is really tempting.

I got an RMA last week, was supposed to have sent it back already. If I get stuck with it, oh well, but I think I have another week before they get mad.

im hoping with the new dual fan design the precisions run cooler. one of the "selling points" dell lists is that it no longer shares the latitude chassis therefore is "free" from constraints they had before.

i reckon i'd prefer 2 fans at minimum RPM than one that was at medium all the time like my precision

heat, battery life, and noise are what make the w520 so appealing to me. after using the X201 and seeing how cool it is, even with an i5, on a bed...really got me thinking

The W520 is very cool running. I keep it on my lap all the time and compared to the M4500 it is much easier to sit with.

exactly why its so tempting. i'll have to think hard and decide if i can live without a backlit keyboard. i work in the dark a lot- business class cabin (i dont like turning on the reading light), in bed after my girlfriend has gone to sleep, and sometimes in my room after getting into bed as the light switch is not in a convenient place and many other scenarios

i didnt realise how much i'd miss it until i got stuck using the X201 as my main machine right now. also im not very happy with lenovo's support, i've had one or two bad experiences with them a while ago, i cant remember if it was their priority support or not, but its definitely a concern

You drag something like a ThinkPad W520 into bed? X201 perhaps, but W520 or M4600?
